This isn't the kind of stuff people should have to point out to you though. Don't make promises you don't intend to keep. Don't steal user data without their knowledge. Etc.

A company that "prioritizes trust" doesn't try this stuff in the first place.
Excellent post.

I made the mistake of making an offer on a card on this site and it was accepted. Then I see I can't pay with a credit card? Uhhh I'm not giving these people my bank account info. WTF kind of business model is this?

You already provided your SSN and DL, might as well complete that payment through ACH.

You have zero rights with ACH payments too, iirc.

And they've accelerated the market crash/dip.

I can see it is likely they will not be around long term.

From everything I’ve read and seen, when the end comes for ALT it will not be pretty.

I bet they will not be returning cards and money they are still holding. They will disappear.

I understand why card people send their cards to ALT. The website is pretty and they boast a wonderful world of trust and profit.

I do not understand how they keep having fund raising rounds. How are savvy investors throwing $50 million on this???

This is so true. Most collectors don’t realize this. They consistently sold cards under market because they had such a small portion of the market as buyers. When the sale prices were reported, the masses just kept thinking that it was reflective of a dipping market.

Yup. And that small market share because of all the shadiness. They shot the hobby in the foot. What's the opposite of shilling? Alt-ing? They did that.

Nice potential flip for Alt.
BGS 9.5 #8712838 purchased from Goldin for $900,000.

Not that anyone needs additional reasons to avoid ALT but it appears they are joining the 20% club.

Last year, Alt decided that people were no longer required to have money on account to pay for items they purchased.

Sadly, this resulted in multiple items of mine not being paid for.

They refused to do anything about these non-payers.

One of these guys would come right back and start making offers again on the same card he just won, only at a lower price. When I asked them about it, they just said they are going to be very lenient and give these guys a few strikes before they start doing anything.

That was the beginning of the end for me.

The end should've been that they were founded and are still ran by actual known scammers and crooks.

Ebay/Paypal has robbed sellers of millions of dollars over the years, continuing to side with buyers.

PWCC and the guys have been the center of controversy for a decade.

Probstein has had its issues too.

Imagine the discussion that led to this decision in the Alt leadership meeting:

Hey guys, we have almost no buyers. What should we do?

Why don’t we try adding a 20% buyers premium so that we look more like the other platforms?

Brilliant, let’s do it! That is sure to increase our buyer pool!

Alt has to be one of the worst run companies in hobby history.

Lol. I’d be surprised if these guys make it through the end of the year.

Has anyone tracked the personal portfolio of fractional ownership companies such as Alt, Collectable and Rally? Alt had their own fund and they must be sitting on millions in paper loss on it.

In the end, it will be the dipshits who invested in those companies that will lose. Leore will be just fine with his stolen Kobes.

I wonder what the current value of Curry Logoman is. FWIW, Alt acquired it for $5.9 million in July 2021. That caused a spike in Curry RPA /99 (collectable BGS 9.5 sold for 780K in Dec 2021) and RPA/5 prices. The same thing happened with Mahomes NFL shield sale for $4.3 million (acquired by IG ljcardshop) and Mahomes card prices.

Really good video (reporting) from WaxMuseumPC (Deadshot).
Curious what was corrected from the first response given.
