So Alexander Vargas & Heriberto Hernandez will either be auto-only or are being held back for BC. That's a little disappointing.

Probably best to wait on buying him. Too many moving parts in his swing (and he's like 6'6). I imagine he is going to take a while to find his swing (if he ever does).

I believe it, outside of Martin I haven’t decided who I’d want to chase.

Gabriel Arias is an interesting one just based off his spring numbers. I’m sure there’s a few auto only guys as well not included here.

Not sure I really want to continue on going after my White Sox guys. Only reason the scrubs I want go for way so much is because cost of product and pumped up prices by bidders. Looking back at what I paid for Matthew Thompson, that is where prices for most pitchers I want, besides Crochet, should be.

Ok, so I created a spreadsheet for 'hobby projections' for all the 1st players on the CL plus the autos we know about who are not on the CL.

Here's my top 10:

Red: complete flameout risk. A lot of these guys are very young. There are a lot of flameouts, it's not fair to legislate it. But what we (currently) think is a strong hit tool right now mitigates it.

Blue: if a guy is already in AA, this is where all his risk is. Still hit tool is the biggest factor here, and defensive limitation increases it.

Yellow: likely outcome. Does the player have one? Is the likely outcome that of a full time player? If a player has some power, or power projection, this will be higher.

Green: This is hobby ceiling. It's almost entirely tied to power, because that's what we care most about. If you want, you can use JUST this green bar and get a good idea of prices, probably.

Orange: I added this later to cover hype/helium/j'est ne se quoi. Call it the Blaze Jordan effect.

Full sheet here:

See, this is just me hoping, because I really want some Hedbert (base) and I'm gonna be priced out of autos immediately -- and we know he's not on the base CL.

But correct. It's just hope. It's late for Bowman and early for BC. So we'll see.

Is it possible he’s an auto only redemption?

If he's in Bowman he'll definitely be auto only.

If that's true and this photo was taken today he will almost certainly be a redemption, or Bowman will be delayed (not starting that rumor, not starting that rumor, i know nothing of it).

Yeah that 'Hp' is pretty bad. But obviously, this is another huge name for the CL. Probably slots in right under Alcantara for me -- #5, above Blaze. Gotta read more on exactly how good he was at the alt site to be sure though.

Not going to argue but you will get the same response from so many that it's how the hobby is now. Up, up and UPPP. How so many still defend it is beyond me. I get it that the hobby is on fire and demand it huge but doesn't mean prices need to be as high as they are. IN the end though it is what it is.
