Currently holding a few but they are like $3 now.

If he has a monster season the sky is the limit but I think the Update version will win out. $15 is too high even if he's in MVP contention. Regardless of which version wins out as the leading RC(as Update is now), prices will be slightly depressed because of how much supply there is between 4 legitimate rookies at full supply vs someone like Acuna who's two most desirable are at 1.1x base supply(S2+Update) and has a big dropoff to the other 2.

What do you guys think a 2018 Heritage Ohtani Black Refractor /69 PSA 10 is worth? I was delighted to score one through grading, only for it to come back damaged when they sealed it =(. I was thinking ~600 considering the condition sensitive nature of H, but figured I'd get some connoisseur opinions.

yep - i added an image. Clearly happened after the card was graded cause no way in hell does that get a 10 with jacked up edges.

Man, that's horrible. I can't understand why PSA hasn't fixed this issue... I've heard this time and again over the years about cards getting damaged once slabbed.

And PSA submissions continue to increase!

It's a super condition sensitive card. The t/b centering is rough on most of them with typical heritage chipping. Upper 300s to ~400 for a raw one (with centering issues) seems fine. More for a cleaner example. The PSA pop report pretty much tells you the story.

I got a 9 for $100 a couple months ago. Also, someone bought up all the Update and TCU base on COMC up to $3 and $4 per which is close to double what it was most of the time since September

Second card is a New Era Variation SP, third is Series 2 SP.

I like those New Era cards, am looking for a couple others. Can’t recall if they came in a small pack of cards or was a small set that could be purchased after buying x amount of hats.

Also haven’t seen a Transcendent Through the Years 2013 style card yet.


I know most won’t care about post 2018 Ohtani cards but I am starting to watch for any with his Pitching stats instead of the Hitting stats.

It is still the AL, but if anyone can figure out a way to leverage his skills in the DH League, it will be Joe Maddon.

they gave the new era cards out at select ballparks during summer of '18. You were supposed to get a pack with a cap purchase but I know a lot of people were just handed out packs at random

I really hope he tears it up on the mound and at the plate this year. Baseball would probably love to promote a positive and relatively unique story like Ohtani's right now.
