Let's get some more thoughts on the last few posts flying around, otherwise I'll just make the decision myself. Want to get as many opinions as possible on everything so it's a community decision. Let's start with the scoring setting, and then I'll run a poll on if we want minors or not

I saw the argument for relievers with wins - so that does make sense from a fantasy prospective.... for revilers to have a little more value could we do like saves = 5 points, holds = 3 points? How much would that impact the elite middle relievers vs keeping at wins

Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to see what holds would have on our scoring system. Honestly though, I don't think not having wins will have a very big effect. The vast majority of RPs that will be on roster will be closers, where wins won't really matter anyways. There are a few non-closer RPs that will be on roster, but they usually don't get a lot of wins either (for example, Andrew Miller only had 4 wins last year). I'm certainly down to add a few points for holds as that will help non-closer relievers keep some value as not every team will be able to have 2 closers, but I don't really think we'll be missing out on much for not having wins

Ok, unless anyone has any major complaints, we'll be going with the following scoring setting:

Pitching
IP = 3 (1 point per out recorded)
H = -1
ER = -2
BB = -1
K = 1
CG = 3
Shutout = 5
No hitter = 20
Perfect game = 40
W = 0
Quality Start = 5
L = -5
SV = 5
BS = -3

Hitting
R = 1
TB = 1
RBI = 1
BB = 1
K = -1
SB = 1
CS = -1
CYC = 5

It's not perfect, but having explored a bunch of options and with no other ideas out there, I think it's our best option. Breakdown of top 50 hitters/pitchers can be seen here- http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/f...l#post11732464

If there are any major complaints, let me know within a day or two along with a potential solution, otherwise we'll just go with this

I'm in favor, Hollywood. Seems like a good balance between pitchers and hitters. Never been in a league without points for a win, so that should make things quite fun.

Merry Christmas everyone! I wish for baseball season to get here fast.

Looking forward to getting this rolling. Will leave the scoring open for some more opinions for another day or so as people may be traveling, but won't be too long now. After that we'll decide on if we're doing a minor league roster or not, and from there we can random an order and start trading picks

I like the scoring. As another said, it will make it interesting and fun without wins.

Haven't heard any complaints about the scoring, and a few have posted in favor of it, so that is what we'll use. Will update the OP accordingly

Next item on the agenda- Should we include minor league rosters? Please vote yes or no here in the thread

I'll start things off by voting no for the following reasons:
-Upkeep of minor league rosters will fall mainly on me, and I'm not positive if that's something I want to commit my time to or not
-Policing to make sure nobody has an ineligible player on their minor league squad is annoying
-If we're keeping minor league rosters, we'll have to police adding players that are added to the player pool mid-season (in order to preserve players for the minor league draft), which is a pain

That said, if people want to do a minor league squad, I'd be fine with it

I vote no to the minor rosters because I need to get a feel for the whole league idea.

I vote yes on Minor League Rosters

IDEA: This works really well in a high roller league I am in.

You Draft 10 Minor league players in a minor league draft at the beginning of this year. Outside of activiating a player there are no additions (Activiated by either his call up or a certain number of AB's/Innings set by the commish where said player has to be activated or dropped.)

All Star Break a second draft where you can drop minor leagues back into the pool or keep. However many spots you have is how many picks you have in the midseason draft. Rinse repeat at the start of every new season/all star break.

I think that would be kinda cool if we do end up playing with a minor league roster component

I personally like minor league rosters, so I would say yes. Question though, what would happen with international signings post draft. Say - if generic Japnaise next big star pitcher signs to a team after we do our yearly draft. Can he be picked up on waivers?

I vote yes and think this is how we should do it. If we did do this method, I also think it also makes things a bit easier on Hollywood as commish of the league.

Now 6-4 in favor, so it's looking like we'll have a minor league portion. A few others have agreed with Dbacks' idea on how to do it, so we'll probably do some variation of that or something pretty similar. I think that covers just about everything, so I'll work on getting the OP updated and then we'll be able to have people pay up for year 1 and then set a draft order and get going!
