I did find 2 more at a Walmart near Johns creek GA this morning.

Data point for skenes base. I opened a hobby case and had 6 true RC and 5 Debut. No idea if that’s good or not.

It freaking sucks compared to years past. Hobby cases used to produce 9-12 of each base card like clockwork. Then Fanatics just had to lower the amount of cards in a hobby box by 40% while jacking up the price by 60% or whatever within a few years. Go team, at least they saved some trees and we get ugly sparkly parallels now. Hurray.

It’s amazing how Fanatics continues to mess up with odds, sale sheets, and even printing on boxes. I just got my shipment of Fanatics blaster boxes and ripped 3 of them. The last two years there has been confusion on how many aqua parallels you get, the odds sheet says one thing and the sales sheet says another. I can confirm that each pack has an aqua parallel again this release. In terms of box printing, the blasters clearly say that this box and all value boxes include holiday parallels, however there was not one holiday parallel in the boxes. I feel like it’s not that hard to get this stuff right.

In terms of the break, best hits are below for those interested.

If the odds have shifted towards being so poor and you get less for your money, why buy?

The gambling instinct? I guess I will not understand why buy a product, that you know will have a long shot to no odds of being good and has declined in quality.

In store inventory and the Target website are never synched. They will be in store but you just have to be there.

No problem for the LCS in my little home town to unload 12 cases of Hobby already; gambling is alive & well.

I bought a couple of their last $6 Hobby packs, so yeah I like scratch-offs too, just a lil bit. I even hit a Skenes card in my first pack … the “Veterans” dual with everyone’s favorite Yasmani Grandal. No RC logo though, what a rip-off.

My 2nd pack was a “base pack” - 2/box - yay me. That one had an amusing card, which is why Update is the most amusing product every year. Don’t snooze on those Joey Votto sunset parallels now - you’ll regret it when the vets committee gives him the call.

Jumbos were, as in all gone, too, a cool $270 this year. May you live in interesting times.

I probably shoulda raided their little stash of 22 Update hangers for $20 but I’m kinda slow on the draw sometimes. They even had some 20 Update bangers for just $10 - that Skye Bolt Platinum is in one, waiting for me, I know it.

found some in the wild at Target (this one had quite bit and had cards in the toys and up front). bought 4 blasters and 4 fat packs, didn't do great overall.

I've been seeing Meijer purple exclusives trickling out into the market the past couple of days. I don't remember their being Meijer purple exclusives for 2023 Update, but I think they had 2022 Update purples. None in 2021 Update or 2018 Update either. Kinda strange how they only select certain years of update for these.

Just picked up a few blisters of 24 Update packs w/purples. A little surprised as these weren’t produced last year and in my experience, yer average backwoods Meijers is holding dozens of unsold S1/S2 blisters right now. Dunno how they’ve been selling in the cities.

They’re sitting in the Meijer around me. Partly because they’re not crazy popular and also the packs are easily searched.

My 8 fanatics blasters werent great. Best card was a Skenes aqua rookie debut and an Aaron Judge Black Parallel relic numbered to 199. Not one Skenes base rookie and just one rookie debut. So from 10 hangers and 8 fantatics blasters I pulled one Skenes base rookie

I don’t think the Meijer blisters are super easily searched but it is not impossible. I mostly buy them when I notice they are freshly delivered though. Overall they are my favorite format for absorbing the Topps Baseball set, regardless of how long they have been in the store. Just a simple single pack at a time. Aside from the purple parallel you also automatically get a single Stars of MLB insert and I like just assembling 9 of those annually. So I was happy they re-appeared for Update.

This Spring I pulled the purple Elly de la Cruz RC. I graded it - a 9, high for a purple - and sold it. But, by the time it came back from PSA Topps Chrome was just out and it may have been a poor time to sell. Netted maybe 10 bucks after grading & commission, oh well.

The first blister I ripped today had the Jason Foley card. Nice to get a Tigers card but I can’t say the purple is particularly nifty on The Neon design, which stands up very well on its own sans color parallel. Some years are better for the purple.

The loose pack coughed up a Christian Scott 89 Topps RC on-card auto. Banger. Maybe. We’ll see in 2026 I guess. TJ recovery for 2025.
