Jeez, it’s like he’s McDavid, Gretzky, Mario, Bobby and Gordy rolled into one.

Start buying those underpriced guys!

I'd actually argue these could be more fun than S2. They certainly seem to have a better EV.

S2 for $300:
-Handful of YGs (~10% chance of Bedard)
-some inserts/parallels

Star Rookies (10 boxes for $300):
-10 guaranteed Bedard
-10 guaranteed rookie parallels
-decent chance at numbered parallels (better than 2:5 chance for a Bedard parallel)
-Bedard auto

Did UD cut the boxed set cards with a hack saw?

Geesh, horrible quality

Does anyone know what the print run was on the 2022/23 Rookies and stars set?

And someone yesterday had a breakdown of 22,000 boxes made. i'm pretty new to hockey but that seems like a really low print run. Maybe they saved their stock for s2 and extended? idk

The first red outburst has been pulled.

I read that post but I'm curious how that compares to last year's set. 22,000 boxes just sounds so low for a set like this and I'm really considering buying more.

I could not sell that thing fast enough if I pulled it. Based off what the regular YG's are going for, he might be able to get $10k Canadian for that.

Pretty similar stock #'s, the red parallel last year was /99. It is /75 this year but they added the greens this year. Could actually be less, blues were 1:1.33, blues are 1:2 but more like 1:1.8 - 1.9

The red outburst /25. Color match too!! I think 10K is too low considering the hype. It could be double that, but would you express it if clean?

I'm so surprised they didn't triple the print run this year.

So the 22,000 set print run number being thrown around could be correct? Either way, if it’s anything close to last year’s print run these will get gobbled up really quickly.

Me too tbh. All their efforts went into Series 2 and people are just so focused on the young gun hype. I think Upper Deck just may have under estimated how good this set is this year.

Hockey collectors also don't give it much love so it doesn't quite have the attention. Non hockey collectors never heard of it. It has been a crappy set in the past with either no parallels or prospects. Last year rookie class sucked which that was first year they added these parallels.

Finally, this set has finally hit its crosshairs with a prospect like Bedard and it now having parallels and autos to go along with it. I mean blaster boxes of crap are $30 these days. I will be buying these as long as my budget can withstand. I love the design too, its very clean. Team logo bottom right looks good. Just a lot to like about the set imo.

And these Outbursts have the added boost of not having to look at the fans faces in the background, including that guy with his mouth open. I feel reading about that earlier this week hammered home that I'll never own one of these, it's the only thing I'd see

The purple-ish spaceship/star/galaxy pattern along the bottom kills the look of these YG's for all teams outside of Seattle.

Could be the perfect storm.

-Traditionally a poorly received set (which keeps the price down and allows it to fly under the radar)
-UD spicing things up with parallels and autos bc last year was terrible
-Generational rookie with incredible hype in a strong hockey market
-better rookie class in general

I think I'm talking myself into buying more...

I bought 3 last night

1 Gold - Bolduc
2 Blue - Foerster / Evangelista

One of the Bedards actually looked really clean but I'll look it over again before adding to the to be graded stack. The other 2 were still in good shape, just a few small things that I wouldn't spend the money to grade. I'm extremely picky on what I send out for grading, outside of a few flyers on higher end.

I cannot breathe! lol. Lots of people will be experiencing that same effect after spending over 300$ and pulling a Yakov Shmirnov rookie.

There is absolutely no chance that Bedard is selling for 180 at any point in the next year

I'm now at 170 and still considering buying more. I really think these are being slept on big time.
