All depends on what's priced in. I'd say that most demand was driven by buyers who expected all of those to be included. If some relatively no-name guy emerges, that's when you could see more uplift.

That plays a part
Also that there is now a race in Miami

Always lots of factors tend to contibute, thats what smart investors see and hence are able to profit. Not just in sportscards, but everything

Exactly. Thats why in January oy Franco was priced in
Which in my opinion made it a great buy

Who knows what the end result will be, but back then I went for it

Possibly, but it's hard to replicate the magic that was 2018/19.

2020 was subpar
2021 was not good

Maybe 2022 can strike gold?

Like I said about 30 pages ago. I don't think this will be an absolute dud, but I don't see "best chrome product" either

my expectations are very low for this product.

It will still go down. Everyone walking around with blinders on while economic disaster is already raining down on us.

Possibly. But there are plenty of people who have more than enough money to buy whatever they want. Ferraris and Lambos will still sell, people will still have vacations and go out for lobster dinners

People will still want to gamble

In my opinion the bad economy might affect the first couple of months it starts, while people get used to it. Once they analyze their losses and see their new reality then spending goes up. Its just at first that people dont ubderstand whats happening, maybe panic, but then try to live their normal lives.

Market has been slow the past two months. My belief is that in 2 more months things will be a bit better once everyone knows where they stand

Ironically, you have just accurately described the mentality of the average american - lost your job, no passive income, but insist on maintaining your life style so you increase spending.

I guess the price for 2022 topps chrome jumbos can only go up from $880 a box with that train of thought.

There's a reason why credit card companies are killing it.

I like that price, but we shouldn’t rely on Topps’ statement. The product releases before the season ends, so there is no chance of getting ALL in-season rookie call ups. Topps can use that reasoning to hold everyone but Wander back for 2023 if they want.

I’m not saying Topps will do that, but they could

I still see jumbo for 1k at a hobby shop I bought from in the past. Some people are just supremely confident about this product.

I agree there is absolutely no way we get all of the call-ups, but we should get all of the call-ups that have had Topps Now cards labeled as rookies. Guys like Nolan Gorman and Adley are out as they weren't labeled as rookies in Topps Now and I wouldn't expect any other call-ups from this point on to be included. Suzuki, J. Rod, Witt, and Torkelson should all be safe bets though.

Not bad for 21 year old rookies!

Julio has the highest OPS at .756. Underwhelming in the context of these BCA PSA 10 prices.

Wander - $3k
Julio -$1.6k
Witt - $1.3k

Acuna is only $3k. Something has to give.

At the moment I’d guess Wander and Witt are overvalued and JRod undervalued. No reason that Witt Jr should be over 3x as much as Michael Harris

Potential is too heavily weighted for young players, leading to a very inefficient market. Wander vs Acuna is by far the best example right now.

AKA rampant speculation. They once speculated on tulip bulbs too and we all know how that panned out. I guess as long as you aren't the bagholder it's ok lol.

Potential investors in this product need to be careful of the pump and dump games that are being played in the 2022 card market.

2022 prizm wwe was preselling at $600-$800 a box and people were scooping up as much as they could that the product got pumped to $1400/box at release. It was a no-brainer, first prizm product for the sport and popular names. People were buying everything for at least $10,000+ per case at release cause the hype was rampant.

Just several months later, boxes have sold for less than $500 on eBay and even BO is less than $700/box.

A lot of people are holding heavy bags of this product cause they got suckered into the pump.

I almost got fooled into buying this product at a local shop for a steal price of $1200 at release. Now I can walk in the shop to buy two boxes for the same amount of money just two months later.

I ordered one jumbo box way back when preorders opened. It will most likely be filled with hot garbage and then I'll have to decide if I just throw it out or sell it as a lot.
