Do you think this set will ever recover? They are selling for below buy-in cost. That seems crazy.

I will collect the set until the end of it. I really do think the artwork is beautiful. If people are selling full set's at 3.75, do those include Markakis, Panik, Happ, Pollock? If so, I need those badly and don't feel like paying 40 dollars or a raw Ian Happ card.

I think I had 1-156 for sale for 1-2 months. Only got one real offer in that time for $1,000. Selling the later cards was like pulling teeth, otherwise I would've considered breaking it up. Just for a point of reference. Didn't want to feel burdened going forward with required purchases every week, and as the set grows, I think the market for complete set buyers shrinks. Only my opinion.

Was happy to add to my Yankee set with Brett Gardner this week, however.

The Gardy PR will be high. It’s one of the nicest of the Yankees and captures him perfectly. I love this one.

Don't do that. I tried it and they are very expensive to feed and they tend to not get along with the rest of your animals.

I am considering the buy-in cost at $14.99 per week. I love the set and have collected from the beginning. I just saw a post on here with some cards for sale and decided to look on eBay at recent prices. A set (1-165 including all early rare cards) sold for $500. I was just a bit shocked.

Ok, I am also very surprised at this.

I was always worried with the print runs on this set being this high, that none of these cards are really rare. Just rare relative to the rest of the set.

I would guess PRs drop significantly after card number 204-207.

Not really surprising what complete sets are selling for.

To start with, most people who want the complete set have been building it from the start...so external demand for complete sets is likely to be fairly small.

Secondly, the individual price point for cards is quite high given that they are prints of original artwork....$5-7 per card, many of which are common players.

Can you imagine any other product where people would be willing to pay $5+ for commons? Even if these cards were inserts in a product like Flagship or Heritage, they wouldn't go for that much.

Topps would be much better off announcing a finite end to the set (for example at 300 cards), beefing up the quality of the checklist, and then starting a new design once the 1953 design is finished.

All 4 of the pictured NL cards with the black bottom border had white corners. If those are indicative of what the rest of the cards look like, I'm out.

But we don't know that because the seller included a photo of cards you aren't getting instead.

Here's his descriptionion...

I cannot guarantee that these items will achiveve any specific Grade. If you are interested in grading these cards, Bid or purchase at your own risk.
Please note: I will not respond to requests for sperate scans of individual cards!
I have however provided the scanned the first six cards as they are the most expensive of the set. The scan of the cards in cases are not the actual cards you would be recieving by winning the auction.
All of these cards are in their original boxes and will ship with the surrounding bubble wraps!
Payment is due within 48 hours, no exceptions, unless contacted in advance!!
Each original case has been stickered with the week number of release.

I would never buy these sealed without seeing the cards first,
The 1st 20 cards were damaged the most...

I'm not sure what time the sales window closed, but I did receive an email from Topps 1.5hrs ago, stating "One hour left!!!".

They only ended early in a sense that they posted very early last week (11AM EST). Usually they come out after noon.
