Ohtani stans are insufferable.

Don't even do the basics in terms of understanding the situation. Highly, highly unlikely he leaves Anaheim.

“He's such a special player, we're not moving him. Ohtani is not getting moved,” Minasian told reporters. “He’s going to be here. He’ll be with us to start the season. I know there’s been rumors and all types of things but he will be here. He’s part of the club. We love the player. I think our goal is for him to be here for a long time.”

Ohtani has avoided talking about potentially reaching free agency but said after the season that he was pleased he was able to sign his contract for next season so early in the process. The Angels' front office and Ohtani's agent, Nez Balelo, have a strong relationshi
I've yet to hear anyone actually articulate a reason for the Angels to move him, or for him not to extend.

"I’m glad we got this over with early, keeping a good relationship with the organization," Ohtani said through interpreter Ippei Mizuhara after the season. "Getting paid means a lot more expectations, so I’ve got to perform."
Ohtani gonna actually start trying now, watch out MLB

Why would they move him? Because they don't think he'll resign with them and they want something for him rather than nothing. Same reason anyone trades their big names when they're heading towards free agency.

Why wouldn't he extend with the Angels? Because he's been pretty clear he wants to win, and the team he plays for currently is a dumpster fire, with no relief in sight. New ownership and new management could change that of course but the idea that he's "highly, highly unlikely" to leave seems odd IMO.

Yes, those would be general reasons for moving any top player with an expiring contract. None apply specifically to Shohei.

Are you familiar with Driveline?

And the loyalty aspect should not be discounted. The Angels stuck with him when the rest of the league left him for dead. Many said he should learn to play first base because he'll never pitch again. Oops.

To say it is "highly unlikely he leaves Anaheim" is an asinine statement unless Ohtani told you through Ippei. Every effort that perforates from his body screams winning, and that's what he is going to prioritize.

If a new ownership regime takes over and wants to rebuild, Ohtani would be stupid not to leave. The angels boast the #27 ranked farm system in the minors - help is not on the way unless you spend. Aside from a decent rotation, you would need 5-6 upgrades at a minimum to feel good about competing with the Astros. That's some Guggenheimer money right there.

When Ohtani says he doesn't know, it is highly believable that he earnestly doesn't know. I want Ohtani to stay in OC more than anyone, but be real here.

If you're referring to the hiring of Hezel, yes it's clear they're trying to do as much as they can to make him happy, unfortunately at the end of the day I'm not convinced those moves are going to help their anemic bats or their barren farm system.

Loyalty to whom? Eppler is gone. They're on their 4th manager since he signed with them. Yes they gave him the opportunity to prove himself and now he has, I don't see him wasting his career away just because he's grateful. There are no young studs riding to the rescue from the farm system. I just don't see it.

It's no more of an asinine statement than saying he's leaving or wants to leave. He's never said that, through Ippei or otherwise.

The new ownership search only bolsters the argument for him staying.

They didn't hire Hezel to make him happy...they hired the head of Pitching at Driveline to make the entire organization better! Come on, man. Shohei has been using Driveline, likes it, recommends it to the Angels, they agree and hire the guy. Shows commitment to improving as an organization.

"wasting his career away" LOL.

Yes, but I never said that "he's leaving" or "wants to leave." You're the only one making silly statements that have no backing.

Ok, you are certainly welcome to think it is "silly".

Guess we will see if he stays, won't we.

What's silly is not whether he stays or goes. What's silly is that you're making confident remarks with subjective factors, like "commitment to improve the organization" and "loyalty aspect."

Just because we're all Shohei Ohtani fans doesn't mean we're going to agree with someone that read some internet articles and lives in OC.

Yes! I think people tend to get apprehensive when something isn't graded so I was able to swoop in . Pretty clean card overall

Indeed, we will see if it is silly, won't we?

"Subjective factors"....hiring a leader in the industry to improve the pitching staff. Not exactly subjective. Objectively that's a good move if you intend on winning. It is certainly creative.

Don't ever recall asking for agreement. It's clear there are different opinions on this topic. You disagree with mine for whatever reasons. Cool.

Or if you really want something objective -- Ohtani signed a 1 year $30 million contract. It isn't only highly likely, it's a fact at this point he's not going anywhere.

The 1 year contract was only to avoid arbitration. He isn't a free agent until after 2023. That doesn't mean the Angels won't trade him, nor does it mean he's going to re-sign with them. I'm a little shocked this is a conversation we're having on here. But anyway I don't come here to argue, so here's a recent Ohtani pickup for me.

BTW that black is gorgeous! I really should keep an eye on the B/S/T huh?

That’s a great baseball card, congrats homie.

If the Angels don’t significantly improve, then I would wish for Sho to go to a contender so that he doesn’t waste away like Trouty has.

Correct; it also doesn't mean the Angels will trade him, or that he won't re-sign with the Angels. You see how that works?

I mean, with respect, you posted the stupid meme. It's sad a player you like plays for a team you don't support. I get it.

Ahhh, that's better. For the record I have nothing against the Angels. I'd love nothing more than for him to spend his whole career there while they turn things around and start contending, I'm just skeptical that's what's actually going to happen.
