I’m not a lawyer but I’m pretty sure Topps would win if they went to court. Did they pull it to avoid the hassle or because the manga publisher asked them to and they want to protect business in Japan? Maybe. Is there confirmation why the card was pulled?

another plus, a craola card that i dont hate. i dont like it either, but i dont hate it. i needed a craola for my collection, i think this may be it.

That'd be interesting if Solefly was dropped out by Topps. Also adding on to what I previously said, but it's not like he tried to cover up it being Ace of Diamond either-he put the anime's logo on his card.

I wonder if Topps is permanently switching to 2 cards a day because artists dropped out or lack of interest.

You can’t simply duplicate art and call it parody. The card was too similar to the original work. As a matter of fact the character was copied verbatim but the uniform colors were changed. That’s all. It wasn’t different enough to be considered a parody.

I think it’s a grey area. If you change the uniform then it can be considered parody. What about all the small timers on eBay that sell complete knock offs of Topps cards for example making a 1984 Topps Mantle that is a exact copy of a 1984 Topps with Mantle photo. It’s not a copy of an existing card but they are using Topps exact design logos that they don’t own rights for? It is a lazy design so I’ll give it that much.

I think the difference here is that the guys on Ebay are just guys on Ebay. If Topps went after everyone who did this they'd have thousands of cases on their hands.

Topps on the other hand is a key producer and the card had to go through some approval process.
