that's a struggle ALOT of "everyman" collector faces.

b/c my collection is mostly higher end eye appeal vintage baseball HOF's

'87 fleer, aka # 59 had a psa 8 record $ 781 last night.

it was a VERY NICE 8.

the train is leaving the station, but, there's still room aboard.

Congrats on the pick-up! in the end, to me what matters most is the card itself. It's nice having the higher grades, but if finances don't permit I'll always go for a lower grade nice card when I can.

Wow..Fantastic. Where are these at now? Last I checked I think it took 15K to get in the door with a messed up PSA 1. Not to derail this MJ RC thread anymore..I have little more to offer either except even more lamentations over the time I could barely get a strong offer over 4K for my BGS 9.5 MJ RC ..selling at the time because I wanted to get one with higher sub grades LOL

Given where things have gone over the last year plus, anyone who's been in the hobby for a decade or more has too many "bad decisions" to count. Sold Mahomes too early. Sold Luka too early. I personally have owned dozens of Fleer #57 over the last 30+ years, at least one of every Star Co card, dozens of Nike promos, I had three Interlake MJ's at one time and didn't like them because they were too clunky and I won't go in to the 90's inserts that have passed through my hands.

Instead I can focus on what I still have and how little I paid to get it. If I never sell anything then my cards are worth nothing. I have and I am way ahead. Really the only thing I lament now is that I can't responsibly buy the few things still on my bucket list (two kids in college and a third that will be soon). I CAN however rationalize trading for them!

Does this person actually think that this particular serial # is going to make that much of a difference on what amounts to a PSA 6 card? I believe I saw this card listed when he was asking $90k because of the serial number.

It is a novelty thing. People will pay for this. Maybe not you or I but there is someone out there that will. Maybe at a different price also but there are folks out there for this.

People buy all kinds of odd things on eBay.

Default MJ

I have a chance to buy at BGS 9 MJ RC for $15.5K. The subs are:

Centering: 9.5
Corners: 9
Edges: 9
Surface: 8.5

This is a no-brainer, right?

Depends what is effecting the surface grade, does it have print dots on the front?

I'm not sure; waiting on some better photos. I'm wondering how much it matters though from an investment standpoint when PSA 8s are selling for over $15K. The centering is a 9.5 which seems like what most people covet on this card.

Yeah, it doesn't matter what caused the 8.5 surface...that's a steal of a price for a BGS 9!

I find it hard to believe people would pay anything substantial for something like this. Perhaps a 1% of collectors who are seriously mentally ill.

Guy looking at the BGS 9: That's definitely a good price if you can see it in person!

This person asking 35K for a PSA 8. Not only that but the case has cracks in it which would seriously make me worry it could have damaged the card!!

I don't think the sticker is really any more on fire than the regular 86 fleer. But yes, it is certainly on fire.

Another card I think has a great image but is not as high on peoples list is 1988 All Star

I think it just looks amazing. The border coloring could of been better but this image is really great.

Imagine if that image were used for the base card. As it is that AS meets or exceeds the base in price. I love Kevin Willis more than most (since I share his name), but that image on #17 is pretty gawd awful.

Default 86 Fleer Jordan Rookie Grade?

https://www.blowoutforums.com/attach...1&d=1610558154

I’m new to collecting cards but I feel like this is a good deal. I opened it in a wax pack that I bought on eBay and wondering what grade you guys would give? The corners looks great and the eye appeal is outstanding but the centering is a little off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks nice. I'm thinking maximum is PSA 7 with the centering. Or maybe even 9 (oc).
