Good follow up, I guess this could be the case, I don't remember having more than 1 item out of stock, but there's a chance that over the course of a year something happened.

What happened to me was that someone bought an item, then said they didn't want it anymore so I cancelled the transaction. I chose item out as stock as my reason because of limited choices. eBay told me I can't do that. Has no idea it counted against me.

So I had a nice conversion with ebay earlier. When I had noticed my item was had a stain/defect on it before shipping out I was canceling the item with my selected reason being "out of stock." Choosing that as reason for cancel goes down as a defect on the sellers account. If you message the buy first and give them the option of having the defective item sent to them of having the sale terminated does not go down as a defect. You would either ship it or select "buy asked to cancel order". Choosing that selection would not go down as a defect. But nowhere does ebay decide to tell you that. The customer service person said they have been flooded with calls like mine recently. I told her it will just get worse with all the spring seller update changes.

My account will be dropped from top rated seller since they check your account on the 20th of every month. If you notice something is wrong or would like to be reviewed to be put back on top rated seller level you need to contact ebay about 10 days ahead of the 20th of the month so that they have time to review the information.

TLDR: When canceling an order do not select, "I'm out of stock or the item is damaged". Doing so will result in a defect on your account.

Anytime we have had an issue with an item we always choose buyer asked to cancel order, but we message the buyer first.

I was just unaware that choosing " I'm out of stock or the item is damaged" would be going against me knowing that the item is actually damaged. It seemed like the right thing to select at the time. I never thought about the buyer actually wanting the damaged/worthless item. I wish there was a little pop up box or something that indicated the result of selecting the other reason for canceling the order.

My seller dashboard shows 6 dings, 3 for ebay getting involved on returns, and 3 for ending items early.

I am guessing this does not count for basic stores or for those of you that run auctions.

Did you end auctions or fixed priced listings? The 3 you are saying you got for ending items early have the same wording as a defect that you would get for cancelling a sale because you couldn't find the item you sold. Very confusing.

Purchased this for $10.81 and sold for $399.99.

Fielded offers from $200-250 for a couple weeks, which is what I thought the jacket would sell for. Didn't pull the trigger because I wanted to wear it a few times. Was actually wearing it out to dinner when someone hit the BIN.

I don't thrift as much as I used to, but it seems like when I was going out 5 times a week I'd find about 1-2 $100 items a month. Does anybody feel like that's the norm?
I haven't had a $400 payday yet, but I haven't priced anything up there yet.

As for finding 1-2 $100 items a month; it was true for me this past month. Within the past 30 days, I found these two items... both of which were listed this past week, and I accepted the first offer on each item within 4 days of listing.

2-piece velour Phat Farm track suit (accepted $100)

Hand tailored Brioni for Neiman Marcus 2-button single-breasted 100% wool blazer (accepted $125)

I may have been able to holdout and get more for the Brioni jacket, but turning $2.17 into $125 still doesn't hurt.

Now that I have the mannequin, I should probably list the Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger suits that I've been sitting on until I aqcuired a mannequin to properly display them upon.

Nicely Done Jeff...as for as the Suit..what was the key to getting it? Italian and Hand Tailored, or did you research it prior to buying it?

I bought a Brioni 50/50 silk & wool tie last year, just because it was different. Afterwards I did some research on the tie, and I learned that Brioni is a brand to keep an eye out for.

Plus, I occasionally peruse completed sales on my phone while I'm thrift shopping.

Brioni ties:
retail (new) $200+
eBay (used) $5-$75+

Brioni jackets:
retail (new) $1,500-$6,000
eBay (used) $10-$700+

Needless to say, it was worth the $2.17 gamble. You know just how tightly clenched I can be sometimes, so unfortunately, I have walked away from many no brainers.

Nice grab on those swim trunks, get them up ASAP. I've never had to sit on any name brand trunks when I've listed them in early spring. Everyone getting ready for swim season I guess!

Yeah I'm guessing they are from 1990-92 based on how the word Polo is spaced out on the inside Ralph Lauren blue tag. I can not find the same pair on ebay, so guess that's good. IDK

I got these at a yard sale yesterday. They were 3 for $1. The games are all in excellent condition, no scratches.

I have some diehard JEEP friends, but not really any vintage clothing hipster friends; so I'm looking for some pricing advice on this:

Vintage large 1982 "30th Jeepers Jamboree" Jeep jacket

not sure on pricing but too bad you aren't from PA... we have a huge Jeep show every year about 45 minutes from me and I bet that would go for a pretty penny there

I'm not an expert by any means, but those look kinda off. Any chance they are bootleg? The Polo is crooked on the patch and I can't see them being that sloppy with their products.

I don't see anything wrong with the patch in person. The blue inside tag matches the oldest pairs that have sold for $100+ on eBay.

In terms of sourcing, my thrifting has been incredibly slow. I seem to leave empty handed more often than not lately. I don't know if it is more people catching on or the donations just "lacking quality".

Ever seen an item when you are out and you say nah and pass it by. Then before you leave you stop and admire it and decide to take a chance on it.
