The point is, he's priced at/above Acuna levels(who's on pace to win a MVP after already winning a ROY and finishing top 5 in MVP voting before), yet he's nowhere near that pace. Corbin Carroll still is way ahead of him.

The hype for him feels a lot like the Puig hype right out the gate, who was a good player that simmered down.

Elly will be a fine player most likely, just I laughed at some of the highlights about him. Fastest infield assist throw? Lol

If you set the number of PA's to qualify to 10, he's 24th in the NL

Let's take a look at a more level playing field, let's take a look at numbers since the day he was called up accross the NL. Comparing everyone accross their last 35-40 games.

If you set the date range at June 6 through today, he has the 48th best average in the NL.

Since his call up date, of those who have at least 150 plate appearances, EDLC has the highest k-rate in the NL, at 32.1%

His 104 wRC+ ranks 91st in the NL.

This isn't to say he's a bust. He's still a good player going through the learning curve.

His normal production would be a fairly decent rookie year. Otherwordly? Hardly.

But again, that does not mean he's a good player. Just saying, if you have his stuff, I would cash out with the increase in prices, and I would wager you could probably buy back in November for way less than what you sold at now.

But there was also a time (and this may still be true) where J-Rod sold for significantly more than Mookie Betts. Do you think Julio should be selling for 2x of Mookie? Of course not, but that’s just how it works when the hype machine gets rolling

He absolutely has big time power, but will have MANY Strikeouts.
Only 4 Homeruns so far and for his power is quite low..

I don´t see him adjusting well. In my opinion he will struggle and slowly fade into a great player to watch but not a superstar

How someone can pay $175 for a Bowman Chrome 1st base PSA 10 is crazy.. seeing how much a Witt-Jrod-Franco-Vlad-Acuna etc go for

Once Elly's .409 BABIP normalizes it ain't gonna look better, because his numbers are already not better. Oneil has a better career wrc+, has better power, and better plate discipline. Like I mentioned earlier, I think Elly will figure it out, but his power is the concerning aspect. Needs to be a few ticks better with the BB% to catch Oneil too.
