Box was mailed to dashcol on Saturday

Here is what I grabbed from the box. I removed some real low end inserts and nobody RC and added Refractors and SN cards as well

I have an Elias auto/relic that the Red looks good with.
The triple auto with Westmoreland is a classic "What could have been"
I grabbed with Merrifield for a young man I trade with on Twitter. his collection consists of 2 players. Merrifield and Harrison Butker.

The Sacagawea card holds a special place for me and here is why...

In 2000 they released a $1 Sacagawea coin....

Back in April 2000 my mom was admitted to the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, one of the neighborhoods of Boston.
My mom had HORRIBLE COPD, asthma and emphysema. It 1st showed signs in 1984, She quit smoking in 1991 the year she became steroid dependent. The VAST majority of people get somewhat better when they quit smoking but she didn't. She got progressively worse and worse. She would go to the ER, stay for a few days. Then maybe to rehab and then home.
Well this stay was different. A few days into the stay I was called to the hospital. My mom wasn't getting out. The disease had ravaged her body for too long and it was time.
After all the sadness she started to have people come say "goodbye" Family and friends came by, Brought all sorts of food and treats and generally had a lot of laughs while saying goodbye.
So one day I went in and brought her a few scratch tickets, some magazines and probably some food. I had given her one of these coins to scratch the tickets with.
She fell asleep and people come and went and my mom woke up and she was uncomfortable because of the catheter. She wiggled out of the bed to stand up to relieve the pain.
When she stood the coin fell to the floor. My aunt Joan started laughing hysterically and said "The coin fell out of her Lucy". That was the word she used for women's parts.
We all got a good laugh. It was renamed the "Lucy Coin" I still have the Original Lucy coin but also bought a bunch more to give to people when they needed a laugh at a tough time.

That is a nice story Jon and a great way to remember your mom. It’s stories like that that make cards that are garbage to most, the most important and cherished cards we have. Enjoy it, I hope it brings you joy every time you look at it.

Thanks for sharing the story about your mom Jon, very touching and the last part, very funny!

Has anyone taken either of the Funko Pops yet? I was hoping The Rock and Becky would find good homes!

I just sent the box on to bmaf05 and there were not any pop figures in it anymore, so they went to someone. Lots of nice cards left in it for collectors though!

I will post some pics of what I kept though hopefully tonight.

I just received the box today from dashcol. I’m excited to go through this with my son this weekend and we’ll replace with more goodies. I’ll reach out to ensbergcollecto as he was next up to request after me and send it to him early next week!

Sorry for the delay in posting what I took, been hectic since I got back.

Not pictured are some 1987 design cards from various products and years. This was my first set I ever put together, so I collect 1987 design cards. Biggest one of note was a 2012 Topps Topps Mini Derek Jeter that I needed.

Also not pictured are three Prizm Red/White/Blue parallels. No one of significance, I just collect all Red/White/Blue cards so always hoarding those when I find them.

On to the nicer stuff I kept!

A LaMelo Ball RC I do not have yet, aJoe Ryan SP holiday RC and a couple of other cool SPs

Some Alex Kirilloff I did not have yet

Some Mickey Mantle I did not have yet

I sent the box of goodness off to the next guy, ensbergcollecto. I took a couple sauce Gardner rc’s as well as a few Francisco Alvarez inserts. Nothing crazy just some PC stuff, Mets and Jets. As much funas I had going through the box, I got just as much joy adding to the box! I inserted a personal memento of mine to go along for the ride. It’s a special Topps custom RC that I hold dear to my heart and is surely my most cherished card. I’m sure you’ll get it when you see it. I look forward to getting another chance in the future to go through this great box! Until then keep it going!!!

I'm not totally sure what the shape of the queueueue is but I'm also in Illinois if that helps with simplifying things.

The box is headed my way thanks to Brian670. I've got the tracking number and will post pics.

I'm looking forward to checking it out and moving it down the line. Summer of the Box~

EDIT: I'll give the thread a re-glance but feel free to chirp up about who'd like the box next. Thanks!

Let us know if the box is in rough shape or has a bunch of base in it or the like so we can send it for a reset.

The box is getting there but still in decent shape. I think after a few more turns it might need a reset. That’s how it was when I got it.

Box is here!~ Excited to go through it. It is WELL taped

I'm hoping to share the experience with a card collecting newbie and will be sure to post about what I/we discover.

Post if you'd like the box next and I'll keep in touch with mmbtvs about the state of things before sending it on to its next destination.

Now I just gotta get through the workday....

Went through the box last night. I had a really good time -- it was like the bargain box at the card show was coming to ME! I think for a lot of folks their mileage may vary but there's a lot of fun stuff in there for newer and younger collectors for sure. I got to see a lot of cards and styles I hadn't seen before and found some fun hidden gems (no not THOSE hidden gems) for myself. I added a few things to the box topper section but that's all -- the other boxes are all still pretty full.

Just let me know who'd like the box next and I'll be happy to send it on its way!
*****
Here are the cards I pulled as I went through the boxes. I found plenty of fun Sox cards (thank you!), a couple of football cards that really pushed my nostalgia button, and a flashy Cal card I couldn't pass up -- it looks so nice when the light hits it.

And then I came across a couple of Lourdes cards I don't have for my PC (fun to find cards I didn't have and that I'd been passing over for a bit) and b/c I was watching the Finals I plucked these two Jokic cards to watch the game with.

Again, a really fun evening of looking through cards in the comfort of my own home. Thank you again again to everyone's who's made the box possible and kept it going.
