It is curious that the information about the Astros came out now. Does that indicate a Trout win?

Regardless of what happens this year, I want next year to be the “no question at absolutely all” MVP year. Every year there has been an argument for and against. Next year, I want everyone to know. Here’s hoping.

I seriously don't think this will be a close vote for MVP. My prediction is Trout will take 25 of the 30 first place votes. Bregman was good, but not Trout good. Here's for a third MVP for The Fish.

Bregman essentially put up his stats in 2019 while also being one of the least lucky batters in baseball (i.e., his actual plate performance was below what he deserved it to be, by a very large margin). Wow - what will he look like when regression to mean increases his performance?

Silver lining for Trout - while his "luck" level is one of the higher in 2019, he seems to consistently outperform. So perhaps he won't see a regression.

And more honestly: I'm just interested to see what this analysis Fangraphs is working on over the winter. Will be another way to predict which batters over or under performed their actual abilities in a year. And thus are likely to continue, increase, or decrease in performance next year.

I certainly hope he doesn't become Trout good... that would mean his plate discipline, and hitting ability would have to take a step backward. I'm more hopeful that the indications he under-performed expected levels mean that Bregman will see an uptick next year.
