It'll be interesting to see who pops off. I really like Peraza. I think he has the makeup to be a good contact hitter for us when he gets the reps.

It'll be fun to watch.

My guess is Peraza may win the starting shortstop role over IKF and Cabrera may be in left field. I've also seen plenty of articles advocating for DJ to play third over Donaldson.

DJ/Peraza/Gleyber/Rizzo is probably the best infield we can put out there with the current roster construction. But Cashman/Boone won't let that happen. They are going to force feed Donaldson and IKF down our throats every day.

I have zero faith in this team doing the right thing, ever, anymore.

Cabrera should start in LF with Bader/Judge, Stanton at DH.

IKF, Donaldson, Hicks on the bench.

That's the best we can do with the players we have, but it won't be that. We are going to get a ton of Hicks in left, Donaldson at third and IKF at short. Peraza won't get the everyday ABs he needs to settle in at the major league level and they will break him.

Disagree with Peraza. If he has a good camp he wins the job.

This trade goes from bad to worse.

Yup, quite dissapointing. Unless he decided to ramp up early, it should come as a very bad sign that he is experiencing it now when his workouts should be light.

I think the Yanks should stop trading with Oakland for a bit.

I, for one, am not very upset about this. Anything that keeps Montas out of the rotation is good news. Whoever is next in line will do much, much better. Maybe Montas could turn into a decent reliever when whoever steps up proves a far better starter than him. We certainly need the help in the bullpen.

The Yankees obtained right-handed starter Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino in exchange for left-handed pitchers JP Sears and Ken Waldichuk, right-hander Luis Medina, and second baseman Cooper Bowman.

This is the kind of trade Cashman needs to be fired for. Give me Sears and Waldichuk back right now, one of them will take Montas' spot in the rotation, the other will be a key component as a long guy in the bullpen. Both will be better than Frankie will ever be for the Yankees.

Hell, I could do better than Montas.

The Yankees don't exactly have anyone burning it up in the minors in the starting rotation. Your options are German, Gil, Garcia, or dare I say a Trevor Bauer signing.

If you suited up and went out onto the mound in a real game, you would obviously do better than Montas would right now.

I highly doubt that they don't already have Peraza/IKF penciled in.

I'd rather have Cabrera out there than Hicks.

Yankees’ Brian Cashman can see Aaron Hicks starting after ‘efforts’ to get outfielder

Yankees Still Trying to Trade Josh Donaldson, Aaron Hicks Before Opening Day

https://www.si.com/mlb/yankees/news/...re-opening-day

It shows you how worthless the two of them are if the Yankees are willing to eat contract money and still no one is biting.

Teams would rather take their chances if/when Yanks DFA them than trying to get them now and give up prospects (albeit low tier prospects) and pay more money than they have to.

Would teams even want them for league minimum? They're barely replacement players at this point. Why waste roster spots on them.

Two stupid contracts, maybe a contender has an injury and we can trade and cover some of the salary. The scenario I see playing out is, IKF, Donaldson and Hicks all start with the team and play real well early. They revert back to their true selves and the Yankees don't realize till August that they're not going to play well again. Meanwhile they lost other opportunities to improve the team.
