Are hours gatekeeping on a card collecting forum billable? Enquiring minds want to know.

Base

#/50

https://www.ebay.com/itm/20528689335...Bk9SR-aX9ZGgZQ

1/1

What am I missing? Other than the full signature on the 1/1, I'm not seeing any difference in these cards.

I pulled a Colt Keith /50 1990 auto and I have no idea what makes it different than the base besides the numbering on the back. I'm thinking Topps messed something up with these. The checklist says /50 is gold, but there is no discernable difference that I can find.

It's very subtle but the background color is different

I was wondering if it was like the 2017 platinums where you can barely see any difference.

But this looks like they completely forgot the foiling on everything. The Dlyan Crews 1990 non-auto/non-relic 1/1 looks the exact same as the base card.

I can see it with the /50 looking a little gold, wasn't entirely sure if it was the card or the picture.

But those 1/1's are 2017 all over again.

The gold is easy to see. The Platinum is far more subtle. But I agree, there is definitely a difference.

I agree - but I also would not know the correct name to use for some of these. I have some guesses and can figure out a good chunk of them, but others I have no idea

Yep the /50s are far more easier to see a difference on than the 1/1s

Well the borders look the same but the backgrounds should be different.

Example: /25 is Orange. Orange background behind player instead of normal.

But I hear you hard to discern.

I can see it a little bit in the pictures of the Merrill, but it is so subtle! They should have made it like the silver pack refractors and filled in the background completely with the color. I think eBay pictures makes it difficult to tell the difference and in person my Colt Keith does not look gold or that different than the base versions I looked up.

A bunch of the colors are pretty noticeably different. Pink, blue, orange, black are all pretty distinguishable.

The gold and platinum they could have gone a little bolder with and a little less transparent.

I think the all aces insert set maybe Topps’ best ever. I can’t think of another. And they’re selling real well. All players. I may need to overpay for one.

Left - base auto
Right - 1/1

Are there reliable sites that will list the various parallels for each product by year? Googling any of that is always so search optimized with crap it’s hard to find

I have seen some rough cases but mine has been pretty darn good. 2.5 boxes into a Jumbo case have pulled:

River Ryan Real One Auto
Shota Imanaga 35th Anniversary 1/10
James Wood 35th Auto /199
Albert Pujols 35th Anniversary Auto 4/10

If someone spends a portion of their hard earned money on something they have a right to have opinions on it. Period.
