Overpowering offense. Gave up probably way too many runs but...

Ive been away from the thread for a while now (as well as the forum altogether) but the Cubs are having an above average season.

I wont say its great seeing as how they got swept by the reds and haven't had a division lead for a while like the last 2 years, but at least they've managed to keep up with Milwaukee.
So theres that

Anyone think now that they should try and trade for Machado?

I know I brought this up before but I thought id mention it again

If it’s up to me, no. You have control over AdRuss for 3 seasons yet and already get what I’d argue is a gold glove caliber shortstop who is capable of driving in 100 RBI. I’d also be curious what else would be thrown into any trade conversation. I just don’t like it for a rental. Stand pat. They are a half game back and have gotten nothing from Darvish and what’s a less than average season from your most dynamic player in KB. Let’s see how good they can be around the deadline.

If and only if they can sign Machado to an extension I think they absolutely should trade for him. For me he should be their #1 priority free agent. I am off the Harper bandwagon, plus Heyward is actually playing some ball now so he isn't really needed. Addison is having a pretty good year, but Machado is an elite superstar. Even if they don't trade for him I hope they are all in for him next year.

Javy is must see TV. The comeback kids at it again. The Cubs are fun to watch right now. Hitting and defense clicking. The pitching is the concern. Team era is decent, but honestly I don’t trust anyone outside of Lester, Montgomery, Cishek, Morrow, and dare I say Bass. Hopefully CJ comes back strong.

At this point i see absolutely no way the Cubs are renting Machado, and that’s what it would be. He’s not signing anything with what he’s going to get thrown at him in a few months. Also, we have already won a ring with the infield the way it is.

I’d say out on Machado as well. AddRuss is starting to come to form and frankly it isn’t worth it.

Also Q has a nice quality start today as well

The walks were tolerable while he was still escaping innings but his lack of control in the first today was brutal.

Would you want him pitching in a close race for the NL Central or the playoffs? He should not and cannot be in the starting rotation with the way he is pitching...
