Wow a lot happened this afternoon. Where to start?

Congrats to all those getting foils and chase cards. If you like the base card, the presence of an insert doesn't take away from it, but it's doubtful that it adds to the base card value.

There's only so much money out there to spend on these "niche" cards, BUT at least for some of us it's a very special niche. The uniqueness really does make the set feel special--and I've said it before, this community has added to that as well. Shout out to Efdot for being one of us and sharing his vision.

The Jonas Never essay makes me feel even better about getting the AP. Not so much as an investment--I've said it before that these aren't likely to exceed their retail cost--but to support the artist and have a cool item for my collection.

Another Bellinger? I liked the Ermsy, and I even thought the Infinite Archives one was ok. We remember Oldmanalan's on the Pardee Acuna day! But there are a lot of these.

The Ortiz PR was low! I have a strong foil chance with a 10 pack. Fingers crossed.

Got the Wotherspoon Jones and Pardee Mays today. No foils, but the Jones looks better in hand than on screen. The Mays doesn't. It's a nice card, but a little too dark in my judgment.

The 2.5 week turnaround is pretty fast. I think it might have accelerated cards "getting lost in the shuffle."

I'm also amazed at the restraint as far as comments re: the record setting PR on the Siff Manuel go. We spoke with our wallets, I guess.

Cards like the Pardee Acuna are great for drawing people in. I have a feeling that a lot of baseball fans will see a Fucci or Ermsy and just be confused. Sifting through all the artists is probably daunting for those that are brave enough to start their collections now.

Yeah I think Topps' best bet is to get the artists with big followings to convince more fans that foils and chase cards, are worth the price of the lotto ticket.

Getting a fucci (or ermsy) in hand could change a few minds, though. I can still remember how much better that fucci was in hand compared to my expectation. they need to give out 5-card promo packs on normal card stock at games or something.

Fucci was the biggest surprise for me in P2020. Seeing the colors of the Ryan in hand completely changed my opinion on his work. Just took a flyer on it and was very glad I did. Not entirely sure who's going to end up likw that this time around.

A promo pack is not a bad idea at all. I thought p70 should have been thinner cardstock all along. Getting something in hand that really connects with you is a great way to make someone a fan.

It will look better without the gold frame but I'm out on Tyson Beck unless it is a top level card.

So far, just his Ohtani for Project 70.

The Bellinger card is a good card for the start of summer, just like Beck's Ohtani was my start of spring card. There's something about seeing sun shine on Dodger blue that feels so timeless. And Bellinger looks transcendent in his bandana and scrubby, unshaven ecstasy.

But, the tape reminds me of the barbed wire on Beck's Koufax card. And, it is a Cody Bellinger card, that's irrefutable.

Very much so. It’s a big part of my enjoyment of the set. I’ve only dipped in for a few so far, but I check in on the thread every day.
Unlikely I’d still be involved if the experience was just four new cards on a webpage every morning.

This set is an experience. And that's awesome.

I wasn't in until I found this thread. And I'd probably be out without it.

I love these cards but without the community they would be much more complicated to enjoy.

A new kind of disappointment from Topps today... been watching my 5-pack of efdot's Boggs because it was was heavier than all my other 5-packs... had to be an extra card in there, right?!! It was delivered and there wasn't anything noted on the slip, but there were 6 cards. A foil? A gold frame? No and no... just an extra 6th base!! If anyone is looking for an efdot Boggs base, let me know... just looking for the cost of shipping.

This is a good example of how foils devalue the base cards.

My Efdot Acuna five pack hasn’t even shipped yet. An hour on the phone on Friday and nothing was accomplished. Another hour on the phone tomorrow to deal with something that as a consumer I shouldn’t have to be dealing with.

This too impacts print runs. Bad customer service.

Topps has to be impartial in this. Carlos Correa might get upset about it or the MLBPA probably does not want something controversial. Should be interesting with the Bauer one since he was taunting fans and not a player.

How does a foil come into play here? I got an extra card, just looking to let someone else benefit from Topps' error. The Foil just feed my disappointment in Topps, which is always getting new ways to be amazed by them.

I doubt they print exactly the number ordered and add some small percentage to the total for replacements or other reason(s), so one less hold back.

People getting extra card(s) were pretty common for awhile during P2020. I got a couple cards in my orders that I didn't order and multiples of others that I did.
