Looks like 7-8 hangers only in the pic, probably signals last of supply... in guessing many situations will lead to 7-10 people waiting and getting 1 hanger each (heard of this just yesterday 7 guys, 6 hangers)

Im really curious where these lines are happening. I’m not doubting it. I know it occurs. I check stores regularly just for cards (not “oh I had to stop at target because I needed X and just so happened to stumble upon the rep”). I’m a degenerate and proud of it. I’ve never once seen a line. I also very rarely get product. Usually it’s just some 25-40 year old dudes looking as fast as they can at the section so they don’t get “caught” looking at cards. Don’t quite understand the embarrassment of it either. Oh well. My fight continues.

Lines in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Most are 20 year olds and soccer moms looking to flip out on Facebook marketplace. A quick buck is all you need for lines. Lines are "the new normal". I heard the rep tell us that some guys sit in Subway for 3-4 hours just waiting because they know product has to be put out that day. Can't do that anymore because Subway doesn't allow you to dine in. Some probably just hang out closeby (like in the clothing area) for the rep to come out and then pounce. At least it's not as bad as it was during the height of beanie babies. It's just what 2020 looks like these days. If you want the product, you have to be creative...…….

I’m up in Green Bay. Way more rural than Champaign but the demand is still high. Everything is still wiped within 5 minutes of stocking. It probably helps my cause that the rep doesn’t seem to have a strict time schedule so lines don’t have a chance to form.

I think the smaller the town, the worse it is—better chances you know an employee and people only have a store or two to focus on

I-L-L! Makes sense that some college kids would be looking to make a quick buck. Cards were not on my radar during my time in CU, so it's funny to imagine people I know having done that between classes. I've never seen a line at any of the Walmarts I have visited in Denver. I'm always shocked to see the photos everyone shares of these lines at their stores. I also have never waited around to see them form though. I'm in and out very quickly. No need to hang out in those gross stores with so many of them being Covid hotspots around here.

The product doesn't hit the shelves for us (except for the rep to take 1 box, put it on the shelf, take a pic, and then said box is snagged). Nothing else makes it. It is distributed to those standing in line. It's neat. It's orderly. It's a drug deal. Seriously, that is the way that it feels. I was on my lunch hour one day and just happened to find a line. A couple minutes later, the magic started to happen. Felt like I had the golden ticket. Here I was, on my lunch hour, standing in line with flippers, about to see the magic white box opened up, and then it hit me. It just felt wrong. They were all talking about how much they were selling Mosaic basketball Megas for. I asked, "does anyone here collect?" One guy said, "yea, pictures of dead presidents". I felt like I needed to go home, take a shower, and scrub down. Yea, I got 2 Megas. Mission accomplished. But, it just felt wrong. I was the only person in line with a job. A woman in the line said that she was getting it for her husband because he was at work. One of the guys in the line told me later that she stores all her and her husband's unopened under their bed and is saving it for their kids college. He said there was probably close to a million dollars in unopened under their bed. That made me feel better. Then one guy said he already sold some megas for almost 200 a box. I don't know. Should I respect the hustle? I don't know his story. So many thoughts. I guess, at the end of the day, it's 2020 and even Contenders (which ain't no better than Press Pass) is still going to be gobbled up by the 20 year olds and soccer moms putting their kids through college. Not saying Contenders is going to get you there, but it all adds up. What a world we live in these days...……...

A layer of is added when you consider that all of this is over entertainment industry products. They only add value at the very tippy top of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. That's how well-off and self-actualized we are in the United States in 2020.

I keep thinking at some point it has to stop because people have too much money tied up, cc bills, people not buying but it does somehow

FOMO is one of the biggest drivers of sales in America. I don't see it stopping anytime soon.

If they're are buying up 2020-21 Contenders DRAFT picks retail to resell, they likely don't know what they're doing and I doubt they were scooping up 2020-19 Prizm and Optic. I can see them having boxes of Score Football, Prestige Football, and Panini Baseball stored under their bed thinking they came up big

About contenders draft picks though, I have seen it and passed every time... but I looked up last years and the sealed product still is still selling for much more than people would have paid... I understand zion and ja chase are most of that but guessing if even 1 great rookie next year the it would be similar.... my guess is that sealed blasters would retain value most likely if the class is good... also I’m in the situation that I’ve never sold a card or “wax”...yet... and I neve spend what I can’t sit on for years... I’m most interested to see what prices of sealed megas and hangers do starting in December if the season starts, zion starts of well, or gets injured, etc.

Lol. Rumor is the entire west side Walmart’s/meijers are backdoor’d. Target Cormier is ravaged by backroom employees before it hits the shelf. Only place I check now is the east side target.

We have been taking measures to drive flippers out.

There is a location that is already stocked at opening every week. There are usually 8-10 people in line every time. Only 3 of us open everything and collect. So we make sure we're there every week. Even when nothing good is out, just to make sure the flippers get a smaller share each week.

We've noticed some disappear after getting sick of waking up that early and having to split 12 hangers 10 ways.

We also give them a vote of confidence when they want to buy all of the contenders draft, topps gallery, absolute, etc.

Vinny:

Kind of figured as much - we usually go to the De Pere Walmart and there is usually nothing there except some supplies and empty display boxes. Did see a couple of dudes arguing there one morning a few months ago and several others lurking so am assuming they are putting product out. Stop by the Ashwaubenon Target every once in a while but haven't even looked as have heard the same thing.

Thanks for the information and best of luck - maybe one of us will get lucky one day

Initial meijer restock seemed to be 10 megas and 45 hanger boxes, each week it dwindled to the point of 6 hangers only
Not sure of Walmart initial but missed out on a few chances but mainly saw smaller quantities of hangers in general, and 2 confirmed restocks today and yesterday that had zero mosaic basketball as apart of them
Thinking it’s finally over. Been fun to rip and now will hold some and hope the rookies pan out !

I have no firsthand information on what is going on in stores. But just tracking megas on Ebay, the number of new listings this week is way down from last week, the total number of listings are dropping, and prices are firming.

Several of the guys who are "scooping" know exactly what they are doing. I went to the local show this morning and he was selling a box of Contenders for $300.00. A box of 19/20 Prizm for $900.00 (show was less than an hour old and the Prizm box was sold). These millennial's all have the ebay app so they know exactly what they are doing. They are making money.....they are not buying up Score, Prestige or Panini baseball.....my flippers got it figured out.....

What’s everyone got from the restocks?

I’ve found 4 mega and 18 hangers, and I’ve purchased about 160 hangers and 45 megas off eBay. Paid about $38 per hanger abd $118 per mega. Feel really good about this.

Found 52 hangers and 9 megas, bought an additional 2 megas for $120/pop. That adds to the 20 blasters and 16 cellos I have from the initial stock.

Yep. This is one of my favorite buys in a while, for a number of reasons.

-hangers were $80+ and megas $200+ before the restocks.
-I did well with the optic mega restocks. Bought some at $77 (eBay markup) and sold for $150. These will be very similar.
-the 2019 rookie class is so much better than 2020, it’s not even close.
-basketball starting dec 22 is great news
-this years products are all delayed. Prizm releases is March (4 months into the season!!).

Knowing where these were, and with basketball starting in a month...yeah, I feel great about mosaic sealed hangers and megas.

I’m pretty bullish for these same reasons. hangers were actually $90 and megas $250 before the restocks.

Blasters were about 110 prior to the restocks starting, dipped to about 80, but now are back over 100. From a format perspective a blaster is no better than a hanger or a mega. the difference is blasters aren’t owned by flippers right now since they didn’t restock. what that tells me is once the hangers and megas move from flippers to collectors over the next few weeks there is a high chance hangers go back to $80+ and megas go back over 200. Targeting January at the latest.

As you mentioned the 2020 class is trash compared to 2019, and also even Luka 2nd year. I don’t know what the basketball release schedule is like for 2020, but i know prizm isn’t until march so people will keep ripping 2019 product.
