Yeah, hobby-wise Tim Anderson is a terrible choice, but it's not like Lincecum is going to light up the PRs, either. Rochester and Quiccs will be the driving factors in their respective print runs, not the player choices.

hi everyone i've lurked for a little bit but just had some questions for anyone that's ordered from wheeler:
what's the delivery time like? particularly anyone from canada. i've heard there's a bit of a wait time. i'm more interested in the older cards from the beginning of the series that i've missed out on, is everything i can add to cart already in hand despite it still being listed as pre-sale? thanks |

were these all ordered at the time of each drop and lumped together in one shipment or were they cards you missed and went back to buy? i think i've seen that the usual timeframe is about a month or so is that about accurate?

Different Gibson card idea is released every day and votes determine which ones go to the next round. This one was the 2nd entry...love it. 54 Topps Aaron vibe.

I purchased nearly 2 complete artist runs from him, and he was agreeable to bundling shipments as much as possible. Pros 1. 20% discount as opposed to ordering from Topps (at the time) 2. Courteous and professionally operated (communication, website) 3. Chance at a gold 1/1 or a foil (foils only became a thing late in P2020, though). Although I received none, he did not have to offer this as a reseller. 4. Well packaged. No further duties/customs owed upon delivery. 5. Crown Coins reward plan did pay for a few cards. Obviously, the more you spend, the more you earn. Several incentives to earn coins without purchasing (signup, birthday, etc...). Cons 1. LONG turnaround time. A solid 6 weeks for single cards, and 2-3 months for bundled orders. Not a typo. To be fair, I agreed to and was aware of the long wait for bundles, but there were a few times I was wondering if they were lost. Everything eventually arrived, though, but when they did, it was more of a sense of relief than joy or anticipation because I had almost forgotten about them. 2. Shipping to Canada was originally free as it is within the US, but was soon moved to $8US per order. It may even be higher now. Rising costs are understandable, but this wiped out a good deal of the savings. On a single card order, I paid approx. $25US shipped vs. $30US right from Topps. However, for bundles (up to 14 cards, if I recall), he refunded me a healthy portion of the shipping fees I had prepaid. 3. Several cards were off centered (60/40 or worse), but that’s a risk I took, and have even had 1 or 2 that way straight from Topps. Cannot expect hand picked 50/50 every time. For P70, I decided to just order straight from Topps. The turnaround has been about 3-4 weeks. Obviously cannot bundle cards that are not in the same 72 hour ordering window, but when you do, the same flat $10 shipping applies. I have already received 2 foils straight from Topps, so I feel like I have a better chance already. Your results may vary. And of course, the gold stamped poster is still on the board. haha Overall, I’d give the Wheeler experience a B. For me, I would rather spend a few extra dollars to have a much quicker delivery and a (perceived and realized) better chance at a foil. Good luck with whatever you decide. |

I'm not sure I understand this logic that you keep bringing up. Should every card in the Project be Griffey, Mantle, Trout, Acuna or some other big name? There's freaking going to be over a thousand cards. Not every player will be a hobby king or to your liking. |

What are the artists getting paid for these projects? Per card commission, percentage of sales and discount on purchases?
I assume everyone negotiated their own deal so it varies, but just curious what the average pay out is per card and why some artists would agree to do this but then not use their platforms to promote it. Or at least not promote it in ways that I'm witnessing their marketing efforts. Maybe they didn't want to turn down the offer, but just didn't think it through before committing? I'm sure there's something I'm overlooking. Anyone have insight? |

I realize that there are a lot of names that fall between Babe Ruth and Tim Anderson in regards to baseball legacy, but I'm still glad to see Rochester do a name that will likely only have 1 card. Plus, Anderson is a fun dude to watch and the image Rochester chose makes for a great card.
I keep looking for a reason to drop Quiccs from my artist set collections just to save some money, but he keeps putting out great cards. Lincecum was on my wish list from the start of this project, glad to see him get a card. This will be at least a 2-card day for me

People complain if it’s lesser guys like Anderson, just like people would complain if we’re bigger stars like Acuna or Trout every time “really another Trout card this is ridiculous, artists are just picking these guys as a money grap.” Can’t please everybody

Seems like none are to his liking. He’s like Mikey with no Life Cereal.

Having a great card of Tim Anderson - the 2019 AL Batting Title Champ addresses some of those issues. He is an exciting player with flair from a big market. His bat flip that is depicted on the card was his coming out moment and has been used in marketing by MLB and it's partners. It certainly deserves a well made card. |

a lot of my bitterness is because topps lied about this years project existing. i am guilty of low hanging fruit for sure

Do people only want cards of the hobby elite because they will presumably hold resale value better?

I think its more, do you want to pay 20 bucks for a Tim Anderson card when there are over 1000 cards in this set? If P70 were say 70 cards and one was Tim Anderson people would probably still complain but I think it would hold more value, but again this set is larger than the flagship factory set.

Tim Anderson is awesome. I'd love to see a similar composition from another artist just because I am not big on Rochesters renderings.
