I was not expecting that from Chinatown Market. Will go perfectly with Ermsy's Ellis (and Ermsy's eventual Ellis companion card).

Agree. Didn't see that coming after the mediocre showing for the first 2 cards. Are they using a rotation of artists? The style is so different than the Ichiro and McGwire.

As someone batting over .500 on the set, a little self control may be wise. Today I wasn't wowed by any of them, except in the negative direction by the Clark. The Ces, as mentioned before, is kind of busy and not my preferred style, player or set, and his cards have been in the forgettable dept. for me.

The Abbott is fine but I don't love it. Ellis is colorful but also not amazed by it. Even if I can't hide money, where am I going to put all these cards?! I've bought cards worse than a couple of today's in hindsight (Mimsbandz Gwynn for example) so I suppose the belt is tightening ever so slightly.

When it comes to cards he likes, Silas Barnaby wears suspenders.

Ay, there's the rub. 5 cards I like that were not well-received (and they aren't the only ones):

NY Nico Cole
Infinite Archives Mays
Mister Cartoon Allen
Matt Taylor McGwire
POSE Beltre

Yeah I hear you. The space has really become more of an issue for me than the money at this point. Going back and picking up cards on ebay has been easy enough, so the only things I really forfeit are my ticket in the foil lottery and my sweet hand pulled, gold embossed, numbered, signed, solid ivory print.

Yeah, because he got paid. He doesn’t give a damm about a title or anything else.

I really didn't have much interest in Chinatown Market and thought every card would have that He-Man like vibe - which was at the very least somewhat interesting - just not my style.

This one really came out of left field for me. Every time I look at it, I bump it up a couple a rungs on my P70 overall list.

Bold statement coming but Chinatown Market Ellis is easily a top-5 card for me for a few reasons:
- Adherence to original and easily identifiable Topps design
- Choosing the '75 Topps design can be an artists' best friend if done correctly and this was perfect: black and yellow as the complementary border colors was a good choice. Almost grounds the card a bit while all of the funkiness goes on inside the card and in the letters.
- THE LETTERS! - All different colors for name. All different colors for team name; the psychedelic effects of the LSD morphing the plain yellow letters into effervescent rainbow letters.
- the discoball mosaic webbing
- the... curlers???

It's up there with the Ermsy Ellis for me, maybe surpassing it for sheer fun.

The Craola would have done more for me if the name remained misspelled. I guess his approach just seems like a lazier Pardee to me. The other two just miss the mark for me.

Acuna likely has a new deal at Topps. And is getting paid more per signature.

Bryce Harper has been nothing but a model citizen since coming to Philly.... if you didn’t catch the recent story about checking in on the Cardinals pitcher who hit him in the face with a 97 mph fastball a couple weeks ago, it was pretty classy.

There’s a natural tendency to dislike guys who came up to the bigs with so much hype, and while it may have never been possible to live up to it, he’s still a star player who puts up big numbers. If there’s one place where fans will jump on you for underproducing, being a jerk, not playing hard, etc., it’s Philly- but he’s done everything right since he got here.

I really like that Griffey. Disappointed in the Morning Breath Soto.

That Griffey May be a top 10 card in the set for me, love the jersey and the backwards hat.
Not much of a fan of the Munson, but really glad to see Fisk get a card in the set. Kinda neat that it releases on the same day as a Munson card, as well. Will have to see a higher resolution photo to fully appreciate JK5’s work, but I like what I see off the bat.
The Morning Breath Soto is a fine card, but an easy pass for me today.

That Munson card has to be one of the worst cards in the set

It really does pop. Great card. I know Samcam will love adding this one to his Griffey PC.

Easy pass again today for me. The Munson is awful, other 3 are nice but I don't collect the players/artists

Love the Griffey and the JK5. Holding out judgement on the Morning Breath until I see a higher res pic- their Mays brought me in but the last 2 have underwhelmed a bit.

I can't imagine Thurman Munson did anything during his lifetime that warranted being remembered with that card. For the second straight day, I would rather pay full price for 3 cards than shell out the $2.49 for a fourth that I just have no interest in owning.
