I have no idea if anyone on the boards are, but every box/case I post on EB and DealerNet sell pretty quickly at current asking prices...

Boxes are pretty solid at $1,000. Have to wonder what BO's bounty will be initially. Someone sold 24 single packs for $60 each. That is $1440 for the box!

Cost of entry is important too. Tatis' US56 was $1-2 a month ago with the gold being $30. Now the base is $10-15 with the golds at $80-100. %wise the return is much better on the base, and that's almost entirely due to it's cheaper initial price. There is no way to lose if you buy this product Topps.com, but I think it's more probable this ends up at $600 than $1400 given that its at about $1000 currently. Not many seem to want to rip it, everyone wants to rip Flashbacks. I don't think ROI is a good measure for this given that Flashbacks was nearly x5 cheaper on Topps.com than this. |

I think it's been established there's a huge disparity between Topps customer service for members and non-members. If any non-member can document that they got an ultra fast response by email that didn't come from an autoresponder, by all means let's see it.

If no one rips then the initial prices for singles should do well for those that do rip. A May base card from the set sold for $85 today. Sure it will go down but the first cards listed from this should do well.

You are correct, but there are many people where $500-$600 is indeed cheap. Just because it doesn't fall into your price range doesn't mean the rest of the people buying can't afford it. I could personally care less. I think its ugly and I can't stand the guy. But I know what happens with hype and mob mentality.
Your original statement was about it not having the same value as flashbacks. Considering flashbacks is around $500 and this is around $1,000 you are way off. The value/demand is there, even if it isn't for the standard purchasers. |

I never said there isn't money to be made here. Usually, a big factor in a product becoming valuable is that people actually want to open it. Seemingly, people buying this at $1,000 aren't collectors and are buying this because they think it'll soar in value even more. It's the same people buying Jamieson/Trout dual autos for $3,000 each thinking they'll make bank, when actuality the collector that actually wants it would not pay anywhere near that. There's a tangible difference to a product having legitimate value and it being a game of hot potato. That being said, there's no losing at $250 from Topps. |

So the email I received about the raffle confirmation signup says Customer Group 1. I guess I am still lost because I didn't see any of this info from Topps. I was under the impression that after the 48 Hour window they would conduct a raffle and winners would be contacted, but the group 1 and 21 stuff is throwing me off. Seems troll-ish haha.
Maybe I should read the thread because I'm sure some joke began on Page 10 and has just continued running its course like P2020 thread. |

It seems to me that your argument has two detached parts to it. The part about value and the part about who is buying it. You seem to agree that the value is there at this point. You just don't like the fact that it may not be coming from our normal cluster of buyers in the hobby. |
