He made that last drive look so easy. After the Raiders scored I said KC is winning this game. Mahomes will not leave with an L. The guy is in a different league.

Seems like a no-brainer to ask your franchise QB for their input on a new coach, though it puts the owner in a tricky spot if they don't like the advise... However, something tells me this new coach will be offensive minded: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...on-next-coach/
I wonder if they would bring in Dabo to rebuild the Texans...

Imagine Watson in place of Mahomes. I believe he would just as great, just in different ways. Let's hope they hire accordingly for Watson to thrive. This will be the biggest thing to follow in the off-season.

Man, this guy is just ridiculously good. Any Texans fans have actual knowledge of what it will take to be a winner now that Bill is out? It’s always a good start when you have a MVP caliber QB.

I would like the see the Watson with a better OLine, and a big time Tight End.
Keep Fuller, and Cooks. |

watson is a stud, it’s too bad it’s gonna end up being a several year thing to get any return out of his cards.
prices obviously tanked this year, the team won’t be a conference championship contender next year, and they don’t have a first or second round pick to get better with. so you’re looking at 2022 at best for them to contend for anything. The good thing is he’s still only 27 at that point. It’s too bad ownership let O’Brien destroy this franchise in a matter of about 12 months. I know this is a watson pump thread, so i’ve got my armor on for comebacks lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As I just said in the Week 12 thread, this is a throwaway year. The texans have a job to do in the front office. Defense is bad. I only trust Reid and Cunningham. Watt should get moved for some draft capital this year. The defense is the biggest work in progress. That said, they should look at some low guaranteed money, big name moves to bridge the lack of assets in April for this year. Re-signing Fuller will happen, unless fuller doesn't want to be there. I would love for them to give Leveon and potentially even AB a look offensively. That offense sounds phenomenal. Fuller, AB, Cooks, Leveon, Watson. They would put up points, if the big personalities could keep their heads on straight.

I'm rooting for Houston to turn it around. I would love for Mahomes to have a year in, year out challenger to the throne, the same way that Brady-Manning did. I'm not sure it'll be Lamar, so Deshaun i might be the best option, if he team isn't eliminated from a realistic shot at the playoffs by Halloween.

And also food for thought.....there is a blueprint for this kind of recovery of a terribly run organization, just a few years back actually.
The Eagles--- they let Chip Kelly completely decimate their team. Roseman ended up jettisoning long time veterans and contracts to get back picks and assets....a few years later they won their first SB. I don't think the Texans will be in the dumpster for many years as most think. Indy doesn't have a long term QB solution. Whats the shelf life on Henry? The biggest threat to them might actually be whatever QB Jacksonville is going to draft at 2.

I agree that long term his prices will go up... it just might be a two year hold before that happens. I don’t think there is any rush to get money in. There are better spots to get return right now and you can still probably buy in low next year. I would say that once this crop of vet QB’s retire (brady, brees, rodgers) then Watson is one of the top, if not THE top, young guns to challenge mahomes. Just wish O’brien hadn’t dug him such a deep hole to climb out of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by BRob1; 11-26-2020 at 04:30 PM. |

-Lamar -Josh Allen -Kyler -Herbert -Carr -maybe even Trevor Lawrence All seem to be in that under-30, good but have not yet done anything great area. Unless you count Lamar, but I think there will be other issues holding him back from the absolute top. I think this is a reason why it's Mahomes, then everybody else right now for the next generation. Who else on that list has it all? -the talent, -the skills, -the organization around them, to be a true great? Maybe somebody, but it's pretty opaque at the moment.

Agree there are a few contenders, but no guarantees. For me Watson is at the top of that list. I really like Herbert, I want to see if he can be a consistent winner once the talent is leveled up around him. He has all the tools. I also like Burrow despite the injury and Lawrence is interesting. Kyler has a shot, but I’m out on Carr, Lamar or Josh Allen being superstar QB’s long term. I’d rank the guys we are discussing like this in terms of pure football. 1. Watson 2. Herbert 3. Burrow (huge caveat with the injury) 4. Kyler 5. Lamar 6. Allen (could swap with Lamar) 7. Carr Lawrence is hard to project at this point, but if I had to rank him, I’d have him in the 2-3 range with Herbert and Burrow. When you look beyond on field and think about leadership/org, none of those top 4 guys are in what you would call a first class org. Burrow is actually in one of the worst, which along with the injury make him a risky investment. When it boils down to are we buying or selling, right now i’m buying herbert. watson is a buy but i probably wouldn’t be putting any significant money into him in the next 12 months. The window is too far away. Burrow is a buy if the price is right, the other guys aren’t getting any of my money. Kyler is a maybe I guess depending on prices. I haven’t gauged that market in awhile. I think Lamar’s prices have dipped, but long term he’s a sell for me. I’ll also add that for none of these guys am I pounding the table saying that’s the next mahomes, or even rodgers. I disagree on this. If you want to buy, now through is the time. If it isn’t already here, his prime will start next year. I expect his prices to eclipse where his “preseason” prices were this year. His prizm psa 10 was $1000+. Literally any move the Texans make in the off-season will bode well for his prices.
