Too much value on these as well and not as much printed as people think.
A lot of people still paying $60 a piece for LaMelo and $35-$40 for Edwards alone.

Much rather stick $155 into
3- 19-20 hoops premium blasters
Long term much better bet for higher % return
19-20 class much better at the top IMO

No offense, but you're clearly detached from reality here.
- Silvers are THE rookie card to have of a player
- ice parallels in retail are really popular as well
- even expensive retail is at a price point more relatable to the average Joe. Retail boxes have essentially replaced what was used to be considered a Hobby box to the majority of folks.
- grading singles is still going to be a big deal and a huge moneymaker even with inflated grading costs.

They've got ins at Target/WalMart so they're gonna push the $200 blasters, $100 hangers as much as they can. They'll never go down, you're gonna be buying $150 blasters.

Love all the optimism but look at the last few retail releases of 2019-20. I can go into any FB group right now and say “buying in bulk” and have 20 responses looking to unload stuff people said would never go down. And those have Zion in them. Not falling for it this time, going to wait at least a month and let the market find its bottom. There’s barely any appeal to me in this class for ripping, and this is going to be printed to the moon. If you think “but wax hoarders will buy it all”, you severely overestimate how much cash people have on hand to absorb the ridiculous flood of product that happens in a 2 month window. If I’m wrong and missing out on paying $150 for blasters of LaMelo & Edwards? That’s fine.

Couldn't have said it any better. The risk isn't worth the reward unless Prizm retail prices tank in the next 4 weeks or so. You would think at some point the morons that were paying $120+ for 20-21 Hoops and Donruss blasters would learn their lesson.

It is not Panini's fault. It lies on the retailer, actually the person stocking the product. They have a release date on the boxes and sometimes they don't follow rules. And the early products we see are likely bought from re-sellers who knows the MJ holdings, or the person stocking the boxes.


It was joyous to find Prizm in the wild, those days are far and few in-between

Reading through this thread I have never been more discouraged to buy a product.

This thread:

1. “Blasters wont go below $200” says the peeps who’s survival depends on stalking Target/Walmart reps. No care for cards just in it for the quick flip/flex.

2. “Well 2019-20 retail sells for this much so this year will follow” Rookie classes will decide the market not the actual brand. Yes Prizm is king but only if the rookie class is doing big things. Players drive demand for certain years. 96 Chrome boxes are $50k. Does that mean every year they should be? Kwame Brown?

3. Panini have what looks like made a half assed product which will again be overprinted. People saying “Lamelo is too low out the gate” just wait til the flood gates open when retail/hobby/fotl all are out.

4. Continuing from .3 how on Earth does Panini not find new pictures for Its Flagship product? Zion and KD to name a couple. Add to that the Lamelo looks awkward. The Edwards is photoshoot. The Lebron Flashback is just a bad pic for what is supposed to be this years special inclusion.

5. Hobby Cases = down payment on a decent house.

This is coming from someone who has stuck around after coming back into the hobby in 2012 and seen prices of Prizm Hobby boxes (2015-16) hit a low of $60 a box.

Im going to stick to Revolution at $375 (which is still overpriced) a box. Just a much better product.

I'm sure it's been discussed already - but why are some rookies staged photoshoot and others are in game? The OCD part of my brain thinks A. they should all be one or the other, not both and B. they should all be staged like previous years (trash rookies not included).

Just in terms of continuity, it's weird that Lamelo has an in-game photo and Zion, Luka, Tatum, etc. are all photoshoots.
