Matt Harvey received a lot of undeserved criticism with the innings limit issue. None of it was his fault. Most of the things he said regarding the issue were taken out of context.

I don't think you really understand how the media works. They don't like the guys who don't talk, pretend they don't know English, or give one word answers. Like most humans, they don't like people who make their jobs more difficult

I think you understand worse. By hate, I mean they love him for giving them loooots of material. Lmk the next time a big news item putting him in a positive light comes out.

The media also has a very short memory. All it takes is a great postseason for them to completely forgot about any wrongdoings and they'll love him again.

The same thing happened with Alex Rodriguez. A hot comeback season and now New York outlets have praised him for his courageous return.

Lmk when that changes the greater public's image of him. Again, I invite polls right on here. The media can be a terrible thing. What it does, only rarely can be undone -- even by itself.

Well I guess you don't know what the word "hate" means. I've heard that many writers don't vote for players into the hall because they actually hate them.

I highly disagree. The media can go from loving to hating to loving someone in the matter of one baseball season.

For example: Your favorite boy toy Harper. He was praised as being the Chosen One from the start but then with his antics on & off the field and not immediately living up to the hype the media no longer loved him and was always putting out articles about him being overrated & how he played the game the wrong way. But then this year he actually begins to live up the hype and he receives nothing but praise from the media.

That is how quick media perception can change and I'm surprised you don't realize this. I can almost guarantee you if he ends up being the World Series MVP or if he wins the Cy Young next year he will be loved again.

The antics Harvey has been involved in lately are no worse than the various issues Harper was involved in so perception can be changed just as easily. You don't notice this because you're a Harper fan and have blinders on.

Yowza ! Harper still gets plenty of hate, my friend. Look around the threads. I have said myself he has more maturing to do. It takes a lot of work and a long time for perceptions to change. First in the media, then in the public. A lot will need to go right. So far Harvey's contributions have not exceeded his drama, it seems.

Sure he does but look at the value of his cards. They have gone WAY UP after being at an all time low.

The same would be true with Harvey. I also checked on the prices of his BC autos and they are still exceeding $100 so obviously people still believe in him. And like you said, all it takes is for his performance to exceed the drama and his value will spike again.

I don't think he is Papelbon, because he's no idiot. But at a time when most would be on eggshells, he creates more headlines. That's why I have my severe doubts and, truth be told, scorn for him. So you know, that's at least a 50% drop from early in the season. He's had some nice starts but nothin' doing. It's a fine line between Arod Land and Harper Land, the court of public opinion is king.

I think a part of me will always resent Harvey because unloading his cards was the biggest pain in the arse of my hobby career... I could never deny the arguments against him as ppl said no thanks. Welp, sucks.

And as I said, public opinion can sway just as quickly as it did with Harper and his prices will go right back up. Harper autos dropped well over 50% as well & I would actually say that Harper's antics were much worse than anything Harvey has perceived to say or do wrong.

I actually don't even understand your hate for Harvey. The public doesn't hate him nearly as much as you seem to. I was actually unaware of this hatred until you & a few members in this thread had brought it up.

Yes, this is how I know so well that (almost) everyone hates him. Thankfully my cards were accepted, mostly for Harpers.
