With that mindset, you will be forever miserable. I was partially paralyzed two years ago. I was laying in a hospital bed pondering what the F I was going to do. Two choices: quit or work to change my situation. PT hundreds of times. Now, I walk with a cane but I walk. I cannot run but I will run again one day. Not today or tomorrow but it will happen. In this situation, I have zero doubt in my wife’s or my abilities to provide for my family. It might get rough, but as long as you can breath, you can make your situation better.

We are The United States. We don’t quit. We may get beat up but we get up. We won the Revolutionary War, we stuck together after The Civil War, won WW 1 and 2, beat The Great Depression, won The Cold War, survived 9-11, and, if we listen, we will beat this and any economic impacts that come with this. We are the home of some of history’s most brilliant minds. We will not starve. We will be okay if we listen to scientists and doctors.

Great to hear about your recovery.

You made quiet a few bad assumptions, not fearing life and death doesn’t make me miserable. Not sure where you get that correlation. I have a great life that I enjoy, that wouldn’t be the case if I was living in the streets.

It’s hard for anyone to see that sitting on a computer on the internet in your home but things might not stay this peachy. Many people would (and have in past occurrences) chose death over extreme poverty. And sitting on the sidelines for potentially 5-6 months will have repercussions.

I'm happy to hear that you are getting better day by day. Keep pushing.

American arrogance is a big part of the problem re: Covid-19.

Thank you.

I understand and accept that life will not be peachy. It may suck for months or even years. It’ll get better and make our children better later in their lives. Just don’t give up.

Stay well, stay safe.

As someone who obviously doesn’t have options, let me explain some stuff to you kid. I can choose what I do, who I’m around, and what I spend my money on. You on the other hand, probably a child living with mommy and daddy, does not have any options. I chose to cancel my $10,000 ticket package bc if I’m spending that type of money, I choose to not be around homeless smelly annoying individuals. You see, when you have options you can do that. The tix weren’t just about the game. It was about getting in early, hitting Copper and Oak for some top shelf whisky, walking to Keens for a bone in ribeye, watching the game, closing some pub and ubering back to Jersey. That no longer became enjoyable for me so I took that money, redid my bar, stocked it with some top shelf booze and now I watch games with people who I enjoy. Now, if having options and the ability to choose who and what you do means you’re a wuss in your mind, then you need to get yourself a dictionary or a clue. Calling someone a wuss behind your mommy and daddy’s keyboard means you’re the real tough guy apparently......

No but you are the one who said you wouldn’t let this stop you from doing things you enjoy . Unless everything you enjoy is in your home you need to stop it. It’s neither macho or acceptable to put others at risk.

190+ pages for people to argue and fight and name call, when neither side is going to change the mind of the other... Yet I wasted 45 minutes to read it....lol

And again, you keeping using scared and wuss. Maybe these are things that torture you as I think you might be projecting, but not me. It’s not about being scared, it’s about having options and choosing to do something else when something stops being enjoyable. I’ll tell you something that scares me though, the youths inability to comprehend as seen right in this conversation. People think corona is scary, wait until these 20 year old kids are running the country in 30-50 years. Now that is scary!

Your original post talked about how you couldn't stand the body odor and weed smoke, so you don't goto games anymore. It made you sound like a huge wuss.

Most of us can watch a game on TV, not anything new.

The 20 and 30 year olds cannot possibly do a worse job than we have. Now get off my lawn

I don't think it's that hard to imagine. My wife and I used to love going to the movies, went almost every weekend when we were dating. I think we've been to the movies twice in the last 3 years. What used to be enjoyable was pretty much ruined by the people who have no respect for others. Kicking seats, putting their feet up by your face, talking though the whole movie, playing on their phones, etc.. And I'm just talking about $10 movie tickets. If I were dropping $10k on something I wasn't enjoying I don't think I'd be a wuss if I stopped.

I'm sorry you were bullied as a child, and probably have daddy (or mommy) issues. The more you tell everyone how "awesome" you are, the more you will believe it. I hope you remain safe during this.

I understand your point, but I just don't see an issue with having to walk past unpleasant people, to get to the game. If I was sitting next to people like that, then yes, totally agree.

Again to each their own.

It's an honest question. Through history we have seen pandemics, natural disasters, things similar to this in scale that have wiped out endless people. Just because resources are better now doesn't mean it can be prevented. Susceptible people are just that, they are at risk for invasive infections

Once this started to spread it could not be contained, avoided, or anything of the such. It's a once in a lifetime thing that is/was/will take the lives of many.

Wouldn't the real answer here be trying to act swiftly while taking both sides into account? You cannot save everyone and you can't save everyone's job. Some people live right on the edge and don't manage their finances within reason. A few weeks out of work may destroy them; as if life. Some very susceptible people were going to get this no matter what and were going to pass away; also, as is life.

It's not acceptable to let this drag on for 6-8 months causing responsible people to get into financial crisis; nor is it acceptable to do nothing and have the most deaths humanly possible

any outcome will have a push/pull relationship between the economy and risk to citizens. if absolute peak projections were 2-3 million deaths....... that is anywhere from 0.7-0.8 of the US population....... it's not acceptable but a pandemic will do damage, period..... and from a statistical analysis that is an extremely tiny portion of the population (with a huge majority of those people in their 80s or 90s with huge health risks regardless). The time frame of social distancing and halting or reducing jobs for between 50-75 million people or more (im guessing) has to be withing reason.

That decision needs to be reasonable enough such that it reduces the number of deaths significantly and reduces the number of families going through turmoil and businesses having to close their doors for good.

people were going to die, economic fallout was going to happen......... but for you to emphasize one side of this so much illustrates the lack of tangible thinking in the country. as someone else said, we need empathy for both sides; you show zero empathy for people who lose their businesses, people who will be unable to find jobs after the stimulus is over, people who develop mental health issues and harm themselves or others due to the overall strain, the enormous debt further created by such an enormous stimulus, i could go on and on.
I'm just going to point out the obvious here...

We are lead by officials. These politicians are normally older in age and they make our decisions. Long story short being old and vulnerable in a position of power/status gains you a say in society. Right now it's fear they are worrying about. How old is the average age of a senator? A house rep? How about the POTS? They're all old and probably at risk for getting this. Would they die or would they take that chance to die?

The dynamic above isn't the only issue, but it's something I've pondered on. Should they act that way? Personally round up the vulnerable OR tell them to stay home and give them the cure in 1.5 years down the line when a vaccine is developed.

If this is going to be a search and destroy (identifying all cases and probable people infected) there needs to be widespread testing and isolation (what we are doing now). That has to go on for months and then we will resurface. NYC will be on lock down for a longer period of time and state lines should shut down because without it more movement throughout the states/other countries.
