I can vouch for that. You would be surprised how many family members of the players and the players themselves are purchasing these cards. My customer profile 95% of the time is not someone looking to resale or flip.

With all that being said; you are exactly right any card under 300 can be manipulated like that. I bought up a ton of #26's when you could get them for under $12...and did just like you said, let them back out into the market at a higher price. If I held them all I would have a corner on the market. So if they would have timed this release so it didn't close until a hour after the first pitch....had a quick commercial during the first break; well then these cards would have sold 8000 or more each. But I'm sure how much ads cost and if selling that many cards would make it worth wild.
