I actually bought the regular one /99 and this inscription /25.

Sold the inscription to a guy on ebay a little over what I paid to help cover my cost for the /99. But the guy returned it because he thought the inscription was Ohtani's jersey number not "1st HR." Even though there were pictures and it was in my description...

Anyway, glad he didn't want it!

This happened in 2011 and 2012 with Harper as well.

Some of them are scammers, some are people who can’t or don’t read, and some are collectors who have the card but don’t have the redemption.

Some super collectors want these to have the most complete collection of all the super collectors and sometimes the differences can be these type of cards that most others just throw away.

I sold an unscratched/expired Bowman chrome rookie redemption for $300+. I even messaged the buyer after to make sure he knew it was not redeemable. He told me he will get it slabbed by BGS as authentic and have it as part of his PC. the unscratched nature of the card brought a lot of demand. People *usually* know what they are buying, guys.

I know your an Ohtani guy but was this a 2018 Bowman Chrome Ohtani Auto? I know a guy locally who bought one recently and is submitting it to Topps and trying to get it redeemed. He paid $300 for the expired redemption and saw it as a gamble.

It might be! It's been a little while so I'm not sure (nor do I care to check) but if it is, best of luck to him! Topps has treated me like trash so I could not fathom going through that process. Not worth the stress. I feel worse for my friend who hit the expired redemption in a box he had in his closet for 2 years. All he wanted was a nice #1 chrome RC

Yup, I bet it's the same guy in AZ. He has an Orange Shimmer Bobby Witt listed if you want to check IDs. That would be crazy if Topps redeems it but man, yeah, that's a gamble

The non expired redemptions were selling for 450-500 at release. The batting version wasn't even popular. My how far we've come to take a $300 roulette wager on 0.
