Harden. Westbrook is not leading his team to victories as well as harden

So you would take a player that is first in scoring by only a fraction?
The other stats pretty much more than make up for that 1-2 pt difference, you do know that right? An assist alone is worth that

LOL Ok

LOL Ok
That's not what they said at all; they're looking further than just what the statsheet says. The point difference is small, but the efficiency at which those points are scored is significantly different. Westbrook's TS%: .539 (lower than Harden's has ever been) Harden's TS% .611

Yes I realize the Cavs were "only" 18-11 in those games.
He wasnt himself in those games, injuries or not. He was passive and didnt look like the same Lebron. Maybe it was all injuries?

Regardless, you hafta look at those games, and the teams output when factoring it in.

He'd be 4th for me right now, maybe 3rd

Harden, Curry, Westbrook/Lebron.....might gone Davis if he didnt get banged up so much

i agree with your position here but team record speaks volumes in the mvp race, if okc can come up to a 4-5 and he plays the rest of the game this season i think westbrook can have the edge. gotta give it to harden currently, not my choice but as a prediction.

I watched every minute of all those games - and while I agree he didn't look like LeBron - I'm not sure why you can penalize him for looking passive.

He was putting up 25/5/8 with a 62% win percentage.

The fact that he is dinged for looking lazy, while putting up those numbers, shows how we take him for granted.

Now he does get a negative check mark for playing pretty crap defense those first 30 games until Mozgov got to town.

As it stands, it is Curry by a landslide. Westbrook isn't even in contention.

I can't remember the last time an MVP came from a team that didn't win their conference, let alone their division.

I wonder when the last time a player won the MVP that wasn't on a team that had a top 3 record in the NBA.

NBA MVP isn't about how amazing your season was, or how important you were to your team. Never has been.

You guys should look into that before voting Westbrook. Maybe the most valuable to his team. Maybe having the best season. But as history will tell you, he isn't in contention.

Lebron is Lebron's worst enemy. If his stats dip a slight bit he gets nailed to a cross, if they go up "Well that's just Lebron being Lebron". Fact is when he is on the court, its a Man among boys

Agreed.

He looks like he isn't giving 100%, which in reality he probably wasn't, and he gets crushed for his 25/5/8 stat line.

He does the same, while "looking" interested, and he doesn't get credit because that's what he's supposed to be doing.

Agreed. He gets criticized more than he should, thats what happens when you are the greatest player on the planet. Fair or not fair though.

I am just saying, you can not erase the first 2-3 months of the season for the Cavs or Lebron and because of that he isnt with Curry or Harden in the MVP talks. I agree Westbrook missed too much too, BUT if he keeps this out of his mind pace of play up.....he might be the exception.

I'm laughing at this comment. Wow.

James Harden, imo. All things considered, he's the most valuable and critical piece to his team's success at this point. Doesn't have the luxury of having a guy that can drop 40+ any given night like Kyrie or Klay to take up the slack.

I am firmly in the front of the Westbrook train.

The dude is balling out of his mind right now and leading OKC up the standings while KD has been in and out all year. They started 9 games under .500 and are right now, 7 above.

Westbrook is simply the best player in the NBA right now. Curry will probably get MVP.

This is bang on. Westbrook is not even really in contention right now since his team might not even make playoffs...You gotta do much better than an 8th seed to get MVP.

My personal opinion is that Harden has put his team on his back and has the Rockets right in the thick of things with very little help. He deserves the MVP!

However, personal feeling aside, the league darling is Curry right now. Everyone loves him and it is obvious he would be the MVP right now. I don't agree but that is who would get the votes.

It'll be Curry, Harden, or LeBron. Probably in that order of likelihood. Westbrook has been on fire lately and has consequently put my foot in my mouth as I've explained plenty of times to my friends why I'm not a fan of his. BUT, as many others have stated already, he's on a team that has not played well and that may not even make the playoffs. That hurts his case. For him to have a shot at it, he's not only going to have to play absolutely lights out for the remainder of the season but he will have to lead the Thunder to the 7 or 8 seed in the west. From here on out, he will be put under a microscope and he'll have to prove that he can take over and win games with high FG%, assists, steals, rebounds, and a low number of TOs.

TL;DR: Westbrook will have to be perfect and lead Thunder to playoffs if he wants a shot at MVP.

My money is on Curry, but I would not be surprised at all to see Harden or LeBron take it.

It seems like MVP voters like to go with a good story, and who is more likable than Curry? Is GSW hold the #1 seed I really think Curry wins it

In order as they stand now, Westbrook is the player that COULD take it if he continues what he's doing.

Harden
Curry
Westbrook (If he continues he's getting it)
LeBron

People have Westbrook way too high right now. If Thinder finish in top half of seedlings ok maybe him. If they finish 6th or lower that's not an MVP.
