Perhaps a confusing ID just for the sale of trying to be deceptive.

Certainly another woman’s name in the ID to continue the ruse that a woman is running the account.

I laughed at that redsox game used patch

That looks like it came off the TJ Maxx shelf from a baby’s bip.

I wouldn’t buy anything from probstien or dcsports since they sell so much fake stuff and don’t care

Default shill bidding

I apologize but I am at a loss to tell if shill bidding is occurring in a particular card. How does one tell or does one just stay away from the listed consigners such as Probstein etc.

It's almost impossible to tell, but occasionally you can tell that something is wrong. 3124508 is doing a great job bringing these things to our attention, but a lot of times, you just don't know, because you end up in a heated back and forth on an auction without realizing that you are bidding with the shilling owner himself. For now, imo, just avoid Probstein, dcsports87, and the others mentioned in this thread.

What I usually do, is that I research the value of the item ahead of time, looking at past sales of comparable items, and if I can reasonably determine that the item is not a fake, then I will have a price number in mind, and I will stick to that number. Even if the owner ends up shilling his item... if I see that my number has been beaten, then I lay off. Don't chase, unless the item is an absolute necessity in your collection, and you must have it at all costs.

Ugh, I would say 90% of the cards I click on on ebay are sold by dcsports87. I have bought several from them but I do notice that some of their prices go higher than what they should. I just set a limit and if it goes above it I bow out.

Exactly.....you can only be shilled if you want to win a card no matter what the cost.

If you set a limit and stick to it, then you can't be shilled to an amount higher than you are actually willing to pay.

Best strategy for high-value cards is to use a sniping service.....
