This was the most entertaining ASG I’ve seen in a while. The Hank Aaron tribute was awesome, there was some fabulous defensive plays and late inning heroics, and the swing off was amazing.

Of course you aren’t doing that in a regular season game, but for a game that is designed specifically for the fans, it’s perfect. Also, I loved that the players seemed to be having the time of their lives out there, especially during the swing off.

It was a great night for the MLB all around.

What a silly way to decide a tie game.
Soccer and Hockey decide real games that matter via the shootout. This is just a fun exhibition. Complaining that it isn't the same as the regular games is just weird. People need to unbunch their panties and just sit back and enjoy the fun of it all. The All Star game is supposed to be a fun show for the fans and players. Nothing more. Relax.

I liked the swing off to break the tie, but you can't have Aranda, and Arozarena out there with Judge, Raleigh, Witt, Guerrero, and Caminero just cheering them on. Also Schwarber and Alonso were fine picks, but Kyle Stowers??? Imagine if the final 2 hitters were Judge vs Ohtani or Acuña in Atlanta? Even the harshest critics would say "dumb way to end the game, but awesome to see them do it."

It seemed like neither Boone nor Roberts were taking it very seriously (which is fine)

I think Boone just wanted to give some of the lesser known guys a time in the spotlight

Knowing Boone's picks longer beforehand, I think Roberts may have thought to go with 3 Kyle Stowers-esque players too

Obviously if he really cared about winning Boone definitely would have gone Judge, Raleigh, Vladdy or something along those lines

I will say the swing off thing is fun for the all star game, but please please keep it away from any actual games

Wait until one of the guys who came out of the game in the second or third inning does the swing off and gets hurt. Good thing Trout wasn't around.

They went with warm players not guys sitting on the bench for 1-2 hrs. It was a long game with the billion pitching changes. Heck some guys were already dressed in street clothes.

I agree that it was likely due to players being warm or even gone, but Alonso and Rooker were already out of the game. Plus if you look at "warm" options you still had Taris, Olson, Suarez, Wood, Carroll, and Elly as options over Stowers and Witt, Buxton, and even Jazz with a chance at redemption over Aranda. But the bigger point is that it was a missed opportunity for baseball to have a superstar showdown to end the All-Star game.

Also, its going to be funny when people look back at the boxscore of this game and try and figure out how the ASG MVP went 0-2 with a walk.

I wouldn't have minded top 3 HR leaders from each league square off. Just have em stay warm.

They were chosen before the game.

They will 100% add it to games after say one inning of extra innings.
