Huh? When did believing when someone calls something boring it means they don't like it make someone crazy?

Right. So it isn't the actual card you enjoy. That's fine. Not everyone likes cards.

Where I'm at these days is:

Vintage - all graded, typically low-mid grade and I shoot for good eye appeal or "undergraded" cards.

Modern low end - all raw. I see zero value in getting a second opinion on a $20 Ohtani insert printed in 2023.

Modern mid-high end - all graded, preferably centered 8-9 grade. When I'm spending $500+ on a modern card, avoiding "surprises" that I just might not catch when looking the card over at a show is worth holding out for a card in a "slab."

LOL Literally anyone can have slabs. What a strange thing to say. Ironically, raw cards sell for more than PSA 9s of current cards. So I guess it's the opposite. Not everyone can have a mint raw card. But at least the poors can afford a PSA 9.

Not everyone can assess condition on their own. Some people need someone else to do it to make them feel like their cards are more valuable than they are.

Just what I want to spend my precious time doing at a card show. Asking a dealer if I can take a $700 card out of the toploader/mag to inspect the surface at every possible angle in the light to make sure I accidentally don't buy a freaking PSA 6 worthy card at mint prices.

True. That's why once the card is in hand, the slab has served its purpose. Time to free that card from its tomb!

I hate to inform you, I've bought cards in PSA 9 holders that are actually 6s. The number on the slab is virtually arbitrary.

Right, when you don't actually like cards, a plastic holder with an ugly red and white label might be appealing.

How did that happen to you? I thought you didn't need a third party to assess the condition of your cards. You couldn't spot the issue yourself and avoid this blunder?

As TBP indicated, it's easy to miss surface problems online. Shame on me for trusting PSA's minimum wage workers.

At least I can enjoy them outside of plastic sometimes. And I never have to look at that ugly label either. Superior to a graded holder in every way for me.

I didn't say that.

I enjoy them more that way though. Which I can't do in a slab.
