1992 MM is still my favorite set of all time. Jusko set the standard for all sets to come. I will say that the 90’ impel set will forever be the foundation that the entire house was built on.

Have not bought Marvel cards since about the original set here. Where will these be sold? UD website I assume but where else?

Jusko officially announced this set was a total surprise to him. Autos were a mistake added to the sell sheet.

He's currently in negotiations with UD. I'll keep people posted via this thread.

Oh boy. UD dead set on flooding the market before the Topps handover, I guess. I wonder if they'll announce '93 or '94 before the year is over?

Hobby boxes will likely be the main online retailers. Possibly epack down the road but not sure on that. There’s not much more time for UD to have an epack set.

Blaster (retail) boxes will be on Upper Deck’s online store I’m guessing. A chance it could be stores like Target but lately I think they’ve just been unloading blasters online through the UD store.

Crazy, I have no idea how that even happens. I wonder how far into the production/pack out stage it is, because if they do come to an agreement it’d be cool to actually have some Jusko autos in here. But sounding unlikely (and forget Jusko sketches too now).

It’s pretty amazing how much a cash cow the 92MM set has been. Used in MM16, the FPG project, now this.

Agreed. 92MM is my fav all time marvel set. It is the quintessential set. The 5-card battle set is also my fav looking insert set in marvel cards. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing those 5 in color gems etc.

It’s a tough one to choose because there’s also 1996MM, which is oh so beautiful, or even MM16…but with nostalgia and the art of the 92MM it’s my #1 set. It was the first marvel card set I really got into as a kid (I blame this set for the addiction lol).

Hobby shops that are designated "Upper Deck Diamond Dealers" should have some if you can find any. Retail blasters should hit Wal-Mart although how long they last will depend on your area and popularity. Since flippable sports card retail is few and far between these days I only saw Marvel Platinum blasters in-store one week once people realized they could flip secondary.

The purple crystals retail exclusive parallel looks very nice. Kind of like the blue surges blaster exclusive from Platinum being a hit. Blaster boxes will be in demand.

I hope this does hit ePack in the nick of time because I want a comc flood so I can collect the set cheaper. Not that it’ll affect the purple crystal parallel mentioned. But for the rest of the set…

When is the UD license up?

That said, I thought I was done with Marvel and they pulled me back in (possibly)

We don't know exactly, only that Topps plans to release its first Marvel set sometime during Q1 2025.

Blowout has its pages up for boxes and cases, both out of stock right now, and of course Blowout can't sell UD products online so you'll need to contact them once they come back in stock:

Boxes: https://www.blowoutcards.com/2024-up...tinum-box.html
Cases: https://www.blowoutcards.com/2024-up...-box-case.html

A Blowout competitor had boxes available for pre-order yesterday, unfortunately I don't recall the price. They still have 18-box cases available for pre-order at $5,299.95 so boxes were probably $295.95.

Do people think this will end up on epack?

The other ‘reprint’ set, MM XL, didn’t hit epack and looks like it won’t. But those were also large 5x7 cards. I just don’t know how much time this would have if it did end up hitting epack.

I wonder if this will come out in December, or it will get pushed back 17 times???

This can't get pushed back. It's December or nothing.

Given all the Unbound cards and achievements set for 2025 quietly vanished off Epack people figure the license is gone Jan 1.

Is $300 for this worth it? Trying to decide if I should pre order a few boxes or not.

Hard to say. It is certainly going to be a popular product. This product is literally a recipe for value: Jusko 92 set, Masterpieces, PMGs, Platinum.

I bet the print run is large though based on all the parallels. You won’t have numbered base like regular modern MM sets, so print run will probably be more aligned with Platinum, which is still on ePack so shows you the amount of that they made.

I’m in for a few boxes. When collecting anything marvel, wax is *not* the way to go, singles is. Ripping wax is almost entirely about the gambling. What I do with a release I want to collect like this is get a couple boxes just to enjoy a small taste and rip something (and keep an empty box and wrappers in my empty box collection), then do 95% of my purchasing as singles.

That is basically the starter price they decided to go with. They like to set the market.

I have 5 cases coming direct. There will be a good amount of this set made and probably no epack.

I agree -- it looks fantastic. The best hobby box I've seen in a while. Good selection for the character -- Silver Surfer goes nice with the platinum theme; the chromification of the original set.

The popularity of this release will still ultimately come down to execution. If the cards looks nice and enhance the artwork, and successfully add a new dimension to the MM line, it should have lasting popularity with collectors.

I'm watching and hoping a pre order appears in Canada.

So far no luck from the usual stores. My LCS has an inquiry out.

I see release is December. Does this have to be out before 2025 ?

I only ask is because I will preorder. Then all of a sudden ud pushes it back 3 months

I think the 12/4 date is looking likely, barring some huge holdup from the Jusko negotiations. People keep saying it’s before the end of the year or never. Topps did technically only say Q1 2025, but people seem to be thinking end of this year.

Yeah, no one has ever officially stated the drop dead date. We have just been assuming 31 Dec.

Is Upper Deck going to have to edit out all the characters cigarettes and cigars?
