Pacers fans get your bets in. Season, as far as far as the television viewing world is concerned, begins tonight (critically, in the Philippines, NBA TV showcased the pregame tension in Milwaukee and then replayed a Knicks game during actual G2 game time). So nothing to worry about re: lagging hobby prospects. Nesmith, my particular investment outlet, has not budged an inch (as usual). That said, you win, everyone gets flowers.

To think that anyone who took my observations literally would now be a millionaire if they put a couple thousand into the proposition I made last summer on the Pacers' rebuild, with Myles, McConnell, Nesmith, and Haliburton the OP (original partners). And probably misuse that power, but that's another think.

I would stay you down with OPP, but I still don't know what that means and I don't want to get caught out trivializing something I don't understand.

It's funny, they finally mentioned Nesmith's name halfway through one of those national shows, while not actually mentioning his game-tying free throws or go-ahead late OT 3. And immediately the other host cut him off and said "oh yeah those role players like Nesmith and Nembhard doing their jobs." Which is a real disrespect to Nembhard, who arguably had a better game than anyone on the floor.

Speaking of fifth, Pacers now that in terms of playoff odds. Pinching myself.

Bucks only given a 13 percent chance of winning the series!? AI generated prolly, but I guess it makes sense. Are you gonna give the Bucks a more than 13 percent chance given a hobbled Dame, Middleton having to play out of his mind to keep the team in it, and Giannis coming back maybe game 5 or never? Shoot, the Bucks got the Pacers to pass it to their coldest player on the floor, Nesmith, twice in the last minute, and even he came through under fire.

I would like to see Middleton go to Pacers and the Pacers unclog some of their 5th year players like Toppen and Smith. That would wash out financially and open the door for development of Jarace Walker and Quenton Jackson, assuming Mathurin is back as well. And both of the new Bucks could potentially have steady roles there for years.

That said, I think Giannis and Dame will still be pushing the revenge narrative from the sidelines. Sad. What was that enlightened system that got them there two years ago? The one that allowed Middleton to be the best player on the floor and Giannis to get the flowers? They lost the plot when they sacrificed defense for a KO offense. (Supposed KO, because aging ankles and knees).

This G3 breakdown video is epic if you love to watch beautiful passing and rotations. I've watched it three times and learned a lot. Including the term "ice screen."

Like a nice box of unopened 20-21 Prizm, I wanted to break these out only if the Pacers made it through the first. They are real works in progress, but nice. While I don't have any true rookie grails in the bunch, not even a gold shimmer, I do have two jersey number cards that I would not trade for a gold Prizm even.

'96-97 Flair Showcase Jerry Stackhouse
'12-13 Leaf Signature Series Khris Middleton 23/25

'22-23 Prizm Bronze 1/50
'23 Prizm blue disco (jersey number) 23/150

'22-23 Panini Luminance auto - /99 and mojo scope /5

20-21' Prizm
- 2x green
- gold wave
- 2x auto
- blue (jersey number) 26 /199

21-22' Prizm
- 2x black and gold /5
- NBA 75th Anniversary 75/75

• The elusive true blue 26/199 was kind of the crown to me until Nesmith went to Indy and changed to 23. Then miraculously the 23/150 first-pacers color match disco Prizm appeared on the bay a half year ago. Thank you.

• Stackhouse was Nesmith's coach at Vandy and they are still close. The card was one of the first that got me into basketball, I purchased a whole stack of mid 90s cards such as this from local collectors in Philippines, as I found a pandemic hobby.

• You all know the Nesmith/Middleton matchup from the playoffs and how they often sparred together when Khris mentored students at his old school in Charleston, Porter Gaude. My only Leaf card, but it's a pre-rookie beauty and Nesmith's jersey number.

• In Nesmith's second year he was included in only one set, Prizm. SO this is the second year collector's only option. I have another hourglass black and gold ordered, to complete the effect.

• The Luminance I like for Nesmith's classic "what me worry" grin. It's the only Nesmith closeup among all his dozens of cards.

• There will be another row of "popping CG veins" '22-23 Prizm to add to the current six-card presentation, including a gold shimmer /10 (if it ever arrives) and a /35 blue shimmer.

• If Nesmith does not get at least a Panini Instant from the playoffs this year, can we assume he didn't give Panini license to use his likeness, for whatever reason, in '23-24?

My bad. I posted on the other and then remembered I had left the collection narrative, which is prob more BO pertinent, hanging.

I was just thinking that something in this comment didn't ring true. SO I looked up on the Bay and a host of tartan-or-better green bling. It did get me thinking though that there was one that really stood out, so I picked up an fully textured snowflake that reveals its delicate yet sturdy enough to weather extreme elements crystalline structure fully.

Let's Go!

Like to make an analogy to art with the upcoming event (not forum stretch, considering that slabs act as de facto frames of a worthless piece of cardboard––or worse, degradable chrome––that somebody values). A majority of the Pacers are like the pictures framed in glass in this example photo. Never been up on the wall, definitely not in a New York gallery, difficult to know which way recognition or flowers will fall under the brighter lights. But definitely worthy.

Some collectors I respect have made Nembhard their choice. I respect that and am not sure they are wrong.

Be that as it may, I am pot committed to the player that brought me back into the hobby. Picked up my last '22-23 Prizm purple scope /20 for $14.99. Like many of the limited but not grail cards I have purchased recently, I am hoping when they do repopulate the Bay they are no longer affordable to casual investors such as myself.

Some of the most veteran posters on the Pacers forum do have comments along these lines:

"Pacers ball movement will be key. I've got my focus on Nesmith. He needs to be able to create something out of his matchups. I think it will also be interesting to see what the Knicks do with Brunson, if he guards Nemby will Rick call for some Nemby action again?"

and, equally validly:

"The garden is going to be loud AF I don't expect Pacers to win this one."

In honor of Game 2 against the Knicks, one of my favorite groupings. Almost seems to spell NesMith. Plus the rare skate ramp patch design.

Go Indy!

New York will do that to the unwary. A significant number of fans come to MSG just to heckle and vent. Let's get a home crowd behind this team. The mark of a great player is living through a terrible game and overcoming, adapting. Have seen him do that before.

I'm with you in spirit, but several veteran and usually skeptical Indy fans were saying it would go six games in Pacers favor after they went down 0-1.

Just like I saw Nesmith make 8 consecutive beyond the arc attempts (which McConnell made not once) on TNT Overtime before the game and then brick an equal or greater number during the game.

Won't get fooled again.

Also, If Haliburton cannot hit players in rhythm maybe he's not the right distributor.

ah i think the first 2 games were kinda like the bucks game 1. They are a young team, it will take some time, and some nice home cookin to feel themselves out in this series as well.

The big thing they need Hali for is the 3 ball and hopefully their best distrubutor as well. He is so scrawny though and Indy is all about the grit. It might be a nice balance but he also might not be able to fit in. I have been back and forth.

What the Setting the Pace team suggested was putting Nesmith on Brunson, because he his a better on ball perimeter guard and letting Nembhard cover DiVincenzo, which requires more off-ball ability. They want Nesmith to be the physical guy that "hits back" and prevents NY from punking the team.

They also suggest more Toppin in 4th to give lagging Siakam a rest and playing McConnell (for Haliburton I assume?) if he is connecting down the stretch.

I think these are all excellent ideas.
