Will Smith in. Should take about 3 pitches to know which version we've got.

Well that fell apart pretty quickly.

2 on, nobody out. 2 pitches later, game over.

Yeah, don't think I've ever seen that before.

I didn't watch the game but looking at the box scores I'm surprised they yanked Peralta after just 4 innings.

He was due up with something like runners on 2nd & 3rd, 1 out. So Counsell had Vogelbach (I think it was) pinch hit, trying to get some runs.

Anyone seen a “hard hit” count for the Brewers today? From listening to the game it sure seemed like they ripped plenty of balls right at defenders. The Braves made all the plays and deserved to win, but maybe tomorrow a few of those liners will miss a defender.

The 5th inning today was the turning point of this series. Braves played phenomenal defense in the top, Joc homer in the bottom. I'd be extremely surprised if the Crew can climb out of the hole mentally. They seemed defeated on offense from the 6th on.

What a time to go into a major slump. 20 innings since they have scored a run. 2 runs in 3 games. Pathetic

Yeah, I don't actually enjoying say it. It reminds me of so many Braves teams of the past. Incredible pitching and defense. Offense goes to sleep at just the wrong time.

Hopefully the Braves can close it today. Counsell already said Burnes on short rest isn't an option and I don't want to face him in a game 5 in Milwaukee.

If I'm the Braves then I'm being super aggressive trying to end the series today. Avoids Burnes and gives you an extra day rest for the NLCS. If Morton says he feels good enough to throw a couple innings then I'd send him, Ynoa, and Smyly out there all on short leashes. Then Fried could pitch on full rest if there is a game 5. Fun to discuss because Braves have a few options for game 4 starter.

Agreed. Today feels like it should be "Ynoa on a short leash, then Morton".

Short, like one time through the rotation, tops. And I'd throw Smyly in there too. He's been good in that long relief spot, one time through the order. This year's bullpen is set up much better for a bullpen game than last year's.

Feels like a combination of Ynoa/Morton/Smyly/Minter to get you six or seven. Then Chavez/Jackson/Matzek/Smith to close it out.

Dave O Brien just announced that Morton will be starting. I like the idea of Morton going through the lineup then handing to Ynoa for a couple innings depending on the score.

I would put Smyly on a leash that would be perfect for a chihuahua that is getting walked by a two year old.

Taking out Peralta after 4innings was dumb. Not saying he goes 7-8 but that's alot of exposure for a depleted pen on the road.
Unless the MIL bats wakeup they go bye bye today

Smyly has actually excelled in that multi-inning relief appearance role over the last month. I'll feel just as confident running him out there for 2-3 innings as I would Ynoa.

That point I wouldn't argue. I won't be able to sit down while either pitch in the post season.

Ynoa and Charlie are pretty similar pitchers
If Charlie on goes 4 or less (bad news), would go Smyly to force some Milwaukee changes before Luke and the lefties (AJ, Matzek, Smith)

So you bunt with the pitcher with 1 out then pull him the next inning. Got it.
