This guy (Orlando Macias) knew what he was talking about back then! I hope he held on to it and was the one who sold it for $900K

"He then adds, "I do know that this card is easily worth 100 times more than anything else I have ever pulled. It is definitely in a league of its own. This is the card to have right now. The quality is awesome. Upper Deck put some serious thought into the Exquisite product and this is something that will not be duplicated. Just like the famous PSA-graded Honus Wagner card that sold for $1.265 million years ago, this card is a one-of-a-kind item and part of hobby history. You might even call this the Mona Lisa or Van Gogh of modern sports cards."
Come on PCP we all know the greatest card of all time is the Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth dual auto that was just pulled. LOL. I get what you are saying. I just have hard time wrapping my head around spending 900K on any card. But is is a fantastic piece!! no doubt

If one has the means and can sit on an card like that then yes. And potentially in 25 years 900K will sound cheap. I guess I was talking about at this moment 900K is nice chunk of change and seems like a solid price. I would have never thought a case of 2019-20 Optic would be selling for 5K today either. Crazy times right now.

Most people could only dream of spending that much for a sports card without having to sell their soul to the devil.

LOL. Seems I remember reading about some dude going to the post office 100 years ago or so, and he lucked out and bought a complete sheet of those suckers.
Guessing best we searchers can do today is find some retail Optic...smh

I don't know Nat but I've messaged him on here before and he responded, which says a lot.

I think most of us can't imagine spending that kind of money on a card but from what I understand he has more money than any of us could ever imagine. I certainly don't judge his decision and I think any negative comments about him spending his money how he wants are pretty baseless.

I find it more interesting that everyone seems to think the card is worth more. There was a Lebron RPA thread (there's too many I can't keep it straight) last year and people made their predictions where it would end on auction. I think it was one of the /23 RPA. I seem to remember the auction ending lower than everyone predicted. Could the same statement be made for this card? We claim a card is worth $XX but we aren't the actual ones buying so how would we know? I have to assume that Goldin let all the high end collectors make an offer on this card. I guess Nat was the highest offer.

I have not paid attention to the negative comments about how he spends his money. Hopefully people realize people can spend their money how they seem fit. People can also have their own opinion on what a card is worth or if they feel it was a good/bad decision. But people should leave it at that.

I mentioned in an earlier post though that at least from what I have read, Nat does seem like someone who loves his cards and to me that is the one thing that makes happy that he landed the card. As many bad characters that are in this hobby these days, when a card of that magnitude goes to someone who can appreciate it, and will enjoy it, that is a BIG WIN in my book. Plus, I would think the card will remain a BGS 8.5 and not miraculously be relisted in a PSA 10 holder.

Agreed. Let's also be grateful that this isn't sitting next to the Trout Superfractor and stacks of Derek Carr cards.

Nat posts some insane stuff on his IG, but my personal favorite is the 1954 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 10

If we're to assume the base Lebron /99 Exquisite RPA is 300k+...then this price shouldn't be too surprising. It's still a rookie Lebron from the same iconic set, a true 1/1 with Jordan by his side.

I guesstimated this card would bring around half a mill if it ever saw the light of day a few years back, but the entire landscape of cards has changed dramatically since.

BGS 8.5 lol

Corners and edges are easily fixable. Pop it out, use some fancy scissors and send that thing to PSA stat.

I’d much prefer the 1/23 or 23/23 rpa gold (whichever has the better patch).

Congrats to Nat on the purchase. $900k is a steal.
Which is it?

Hypothetical question: if he cracked that and was able to get both LeBron and Jordan to both sign it, would it be worth considerably more or frowned upon because it'd been "altered" from its original state?

If he’s into losing around half a million dollars, then he absolutely should have it signed.

LMAO. So true. Nothing better than the 1 AM watch of these guys pushing this stuff. I did actually buy a case of 1997 premium stock score one time just because I wanted to have fun busting some wax. I think it cost me like $100. But it was a blast opening.

I think I would sh*t my pants TWICE if I ever spend $900K on a single card.

Here's a little perspective:

Nat and his partner sold their company for $2.1B. Let's call it $2B for round-number's sake. And let's say Nat got half (he probably got less after paying out investors, etc. but still... this exercise is just for fun). So Nat walks away with $1B.

A person with $1B who spends $900k, is like a person with $100k who spends $90.
