He certainly could be. I think any prospect that was put on the 30-man roster would be fair game.

If a guy or 2 like him could be added to this set, then the current price might be justified.
What would be really cool is if a guy that was just drafted this year made the MLB and then was in this set.
A few guys have made that jump, but I know wishing for them to make it into Topps Chrome or Bowman Chrome is a pipe dream! LOL

If Franco is questionable, I think if he's not then the set grabbed prospects that made the 30-man roster, but it's really hard to say.

I feel confident that the big 4 will be in there and I think they'll be very popular once release hits. I mean it's 1st Bowman and 1st Topps Chrome RC, right? So, there's only 1 rookie worth getting, and from my understanding it's Topps Chrome, not flagship.

Flagship is beating chrome for base RC. Chrome wins for the Rookie Auto.

Is it? Wow, I wouldn't think paper would beat chrome.

EDIT: It isn't for recent sales of Tatis, but it's pretty close; $11 to $18 on the most recent sale. No idea what it was for the first 2 months of the 2019 chrome release.

Also the rookie class is not as good as the last few years, because we couldn't have any call ups!
I realize demand is up because there are more people back in the hobby, but we are gonna laugh at ourselves in a few years.
There are some big hits to be had, but we are now just playing the lotto. Too many boxes with a value of 10% of the cost and just a few big winners.
I realize that back in the day with most boxes yielding 75% to 200% return was kind of boring, but this is laughable.

One has to wonder if, at least partly, whether the market has been manipulated to encourage the purchase of more online products.

Topps will likely place most of the better names in the online Sapphire Topps Chrome product to encourage more people to buy from them online!

Hopefully the this years big 4 come in regular chrome stock, and not the thick trimmed stock from last year

Good point. At the same time, though, does Topps really need to do any gimmicks to sell out on Sapphire?

In Baseball Flagship is King, so paper for base RCs is the way to go

I'm going to do my best to stick to singles and going to attempt to go all in (or just bust my allotted amount) of Sapphire

I think that's a good idea. I will be buying retail, for sure. I'll rip some and sell some....if I can even get it, lol.

Is there a reason why flagship rookies are the way to go over chrome? That's certainly not the case for Bowman; at least not what I'm seeing with 2020 Bowman. I'm seeing mojo<<chrome<<<<paper

Honestly, I think its a consistency thing. I prefer the paper ones myself, but I feel like they "go" better with the other/vintage rookies in my collection (also flagship rookies ha)

I can only speak for me and my collection, but: every player is guaranteed to have a RC in a flagship product (S1, S2, or Update). Not all rookies will show up in Chrome; some of the ones near the cutoff date for RC eligibility will miss having a card in this set. (they do show up in Chrome Update, but that's a different product/format)

Flagship is the only product where you can reliably say 100% of all eligible rookies will show up in the set (across the 3 releases). And I think all or most collectors just are done with trying to keep up with the differences in the other releases. Just easier to flock to flagship.

A few people bought into it and the rest followed like sheep.

Great point! I do the same thing with my Topps Braves base run; paper only.

That's a great explanation. Thank you!

Gotta think, though, that the big 4 will definitely be in this, so if that's what you're looking at, you're good, but, like you said, if you're looking for some "on the cusp" prospects, this may not be the set for you.

Kieboom and Biggio were 2019 Rookies.

They're not going to surprise with additional big names, unless you're talking about an Evan White & Yoshi Tsutsugo surprise (although, they're not likely). I say this because:

1. Becasue of COVID, this is now an early season release where they wouldn't have enough time to add players who debut in 2020.

2. Topps already tipped their cap with Singer, Pearson etc. Topps NOW cards. There will be none of these 2020 debuts as RCs. They'll all be designated "Call-Ups" which they don't put into hobby releases.

This is a new development. In the past Chrome is king. As recently as 2017, TC was the go to Bryant RC. In 2018 the Soto chrome update sold for 2x the paper. Now they’re practically even,

I’m thinking maybe it has to do with grading being harder for paper cards

Tide has turned since 2017. Paper is king now. The platinum 1 of 1 is the principal chase

I see this notation used a lot on BO. By context, you're saying Mojo is the best, but this notation says paper is best.

I mean those are "less than" symbols, right? The lesser thing is on the left with a less than symbol.

Yeah, it was noted that sometime this Summer. I am sure it will be after Chrome has hit. But then we still have Sapphire too. Lots of product coming out.
