The Cubs won in 2016 in spite of how bad he managed the bullpen but he gets all the credit for it. I'm not saying he's at fault but manager is always the first to go.

Cubs’ start to the season sucks. But on the other hand, my kid asked to open his first pack of baseball cards today, and I happened to have a blaster of Opening Day nearby. He was so stoked to pull a Cub (just a Rizzo base!) that it nets out as a great day.

I know the Brewers are good but that park helps the offense A TON.

Edwards (to Iowa) and Montgomery (10-day) out, Allen Webster and Kyle Ryan in to the bullpen. Let’s see if that helps.

Well, they pitched an inning between them, and each have an ERA of 27... but clearly their presence inspired the Cubs bats.

This season is not off to a fun start. The pitching has been bad. Offense is there, but they just giving back all the runs they score. Blah!

It's a beautiful day in Chicago. Sun is shining. Birds are singing. The Cubs are opening up Wrigley and hitting restart on the season. That's what I choose to believe, and I can't wait to get to Wrigleyville. If nothing else it's not going to snow!

I’ll be heading down for the atmosphere (and maybe pick up a cheap ticket too). Go Cubs!

I cannot believe it's 75 degrees in Chicago on opening day

I'm still laughing at that Javy Baez hit earlier. Basically throwing his bat at a ball in the dirt, over the SS head for a single. El Mago!

Glad to see the Cubs not give up a run going into top 9th.

That just felt different. Could be the home field. Could be the shot of malort for breakfast and 6 Daisy Cutters after. But it FELT different today and I'm hoping this is the start of a new season.

It sure did. That second inning was a huge lift.
Hopefully the Cubs drank out of the other side of the glass, and cured the early season hiccups. (We can be optimistic on Opening Day)

Surpringly, the offense has been pretty damn great this year. Already have several games of 10+ runs, it's just the damn pitching is not doing anything for us.

Hopefully Lester isn't going to miss much time.

Well that was an exciting and then terrible ending to the game.

3rd base ump clearly had dinner reservations he had to get to.

I thought it was a swing, the bat was about a foot in front of the plate. It was one of those calls that could have gone either way, somebody wasn't going to be happy.

Really happy the game got called today. Hopefully they make it up when Trout is healthy and Ohtani is back.

It was a swing for sure. Not sure why Kyle felt the need to rush the umpire or Maddon saying the check swings shouldn't be an umpires call.

Maybe worry about getting hits and not bitching and moaning about a check swing.

His stats since leaving Texas

5 hits in 40 ABs (.125 AVG)

1 HR

3 RBI

4 BB

15 Ks

.205 OBP

.405 OPS

Time to bump this thread up with the Cubs back to .500 and playing some nice ball right now! NL Central is going to be a great division to follow this year. Considering the struggles of Bryant, Rizzo, Schwarber, Almora this team has produced alot of runs. Deacalso was a huge pickup and he continues to do alot to help the team. Pitching has improved and just seems like they are having fun out there after the terrible start. Brewers finally starting to feel the pressure and have pitching issues. I feel good about where the Cubs are and what they can accomplish going forward!

I was going to post after the last game and during this one but didn’t want to break the spell.

Great to see some progress. Still early in the season and time for Bryant etc to come around.
