1. Ben Simmons, projecting 5 years from now remember
2. Giannis
3. Embiid
4. AD [he could be anywhere 1-4]
5. Someone not yet in NBA unless Doncic makes the leap.

Feeling pretty good about this list from over a year ago. Doncic obvs making the leap as it stands right now [still small sample size but I'm a believer] and Simmons shooting 100% from this year...

What an awful list. You are an idiot. RJ Barrett and Embiid?

Giannis
Luka
AD
Siakam

Size & versatility are the new winning formula in the NBA. Sorry TallRondo fans, but shooting is important.

If I had to guess today, I’d say:

1) Giannis
2) Anthony Davis
3) Kawhi
4) Ben Simmons
5) Kyrie/Mitchell/Jokic/Booker/Tatum ??

I find the fifth spot pretty tough. As it appears Zion is looking like he could do some great damage when he gets in the league
I agree with this list for the most part. I think we see another big man enter it, though. One of Zion, Kat, Embiid, or Ayton. Way too early to tell which. Maybe 2 of them, 1 taking the 5th spot and 1 taking Kawhi's spot in 5 years.

Kawhi will be 32 and will likely have a lot of playoff miles on him. He'll likely still be great, but his quickness will be gone and he'll be relying more on his ability to read the game / his IQ. AD will be 30 and no idea how he'll hold up.
hmmm one year later also feeling pretty good about my list. Might swap Doncic and Embiid, not sure what Embiid's knees will be like in the future. Then there's Zion's knees, but not sure who I'd replace him with, so I'll leave it as-is this year.

4 years from now:

1. Luka
2. Trae Young
3. Giannis
4. Ingram/Zion(if healthy)
5. Not yet in the league (probably Wiseman)

Also taking into account the future of talent and confidence in the front office of their respective teams

trying to think of my next wave 6-10, I think it'd be:

6. AD - he'll be 30, not sure how he's gonna age. But I'll guess better than Kawhi
7. KAT - Showing another gear this year, we'll see how much more he has
8. Booker - Could be the best pure scorer already. he'll only be 27 in 4 years!
9. Isaac - if he develops more offense watch out - only 22 and already AK47-lite
10. Morant - really impressed with him so far, better scorer already than I was expecting

Simmons eFG% is 3 points higher than Luka's, but I know facts nor advanced stats don't count with haters.

If 'shooting' counts so much to you why include a guy barely shooting 33% from 3? Or Giannis at 30%?

So cherry picking the one specific stat he’s better than Luka is proof that I’m an idiot and a hater huh? When you take 90% of your shots in the key, it better be damn high

Also yes, shooting is important. Like, actually moving the ball from your hand towards the basket. Sitting in the dunker spot because you’re incapable of performing the most essential part of the game automatically disqualifies you from “top 5” conversations, to me and a whole lot of other people.

I don’t know if you’ve ever played basketball, but if there’s a guy who can’t / won’t shoot, I’ve never thought to myself “that guy is the best player on the floor”. Except that time Shaq showed up at the local 24

Look, he’s a fine player, I don’t hate him so stop getting all soccer mom. He’s just not a star for as long as he can’t score. If he can manage to dominate all other aspects of the game, like putting up 15 / 12 / 12 and DPOY consideration, then maybe we talk about it. But after 3 years of marginal improvement? I don’t see it

So going off the OP, we are now talking about FOUR years from now. No particular order:

Giannis
Luka
KAT
Simmons
Brow

I'd guess Ayton or Bagley jump in before Embiid or Jokic just due to their body types and history. Spida could get there, or possibly Trae. Zion is very hard to project. Could be the next LeBron, or could max out at 44 games played in his best year. Thought about Ja as well.

I didn't even think about Siakam, but that's an interesting one.

I might put Tatum somewhere in the mix too.

who are the current top 5 players?

-Giannis
-Luka
-AD
-Harden/LBJ
-KL

something like that, non except LBJ were considered top 5 5yrs ago. some werent even in league.

top 5 5yrs from now, will prob be 1 guy currently in the early part of their prime. a couple guys who are very young now and elite and a couple guys who either have yet to break out or perhaps not even in the league.
