His 2001-2010 10 year decade run was Phenominal. Should have stayed in NL. The AL carries more pitchers on teams for situational pitching and therefore the OBP & BA take a huge hit. It's two different careers but it's two different leagues.
Will he retire a .300 career hitter or as a slugger with a very good batting average?

I'm thinking sometime in May. Once he gets to 2,997, I will be going to every home game in hopes of seeing 3,000 live. I did the same for HR #600. I went Wed, Thur, Fri, and he finally hit it Saturday. Hoping he can do it at home.

I just got my 3000 hits figure in mail. Box basically squished but glad I got one! Lucky you to hit those games! I need a ticket stub from the 3k game to go with figure.

You got it. During the 600 HR game, I collected ticket stubs and shipped them to whoever wanted them here. I think I shipped like 5 to different BO members. If I'm at the game, I'll mail you a stub if I can get n extra from the floor.

Very generous! A floor stub would be great!

Pujols 2-for-5 tonight. 19 away from 3,000. It was his fifth 2-hit game in 11 games this season!

The card that started it all for me:

scan0009 by Brett Blair, on Flickr

Paid $25 for this at a card show in Cooperstown just before his prices started to rise.

The site in my sig has a text list of my entire Pujols collection. Been a labor of love for close to 15 years now.

Ha, I am watching one of those on eBay now. Don't see them often! Very nice.

Which is interesting because you could say the same thing about Griffey's Seattle run and what he did with the Reds. Kind of the same career trajectory. Griffey is as popular as ever.

Fun fact: From '12-'17 Pujols drove in 223 more RBI's than Griffey did from '02-'07.

i am a hard core astros fan but despite the fact that Pujols killed some really good astros teams, I have always had great respect and admiration for Pujols. Excited for him to reach 3000 hits. He deserves it.
