Thanks for the kind words everyone. As far as the remaining needs I can’t reveal for reasons mentioned. I will say that if anyone has any signed 55 Topps available or any contacts please just PM me. I can always use upgrades as well.

I remember this thread well. This was a needle-in-the-haystack find. Congrats to the new owner!

Bumping this thread, card is up for sale. Nicely written article on it from Beckett:

This thread all happened long before I joined, and was fascinating. Knew nothing about this particular player and his story.

This is the case in modern books as well, but there is a growing shift toward a preference for inscriptions due to lower risk of counterfeits. Pretty much any single signed Michael Crichton is fake (subject of a major FBI bust), but the inscribed ones have a decent shot at being real (the major counterfeiter never inscribed any).

This makes me sick to my stomach. What in the world saddens you it was inscribed???! I’d rather have an inscription anyway, it shows the player had a real interaction. I’ve sat through countless lines with superstars busily signing their name not even looking at the people that they idolize. This is the exact opposite of that. Yuck.
