It's all the "assuming IT plays this year" part

If Thomas is back? They are absolutely better than last year. It isn't even a debate.

If Thomas isn't back? Or isn't back to at least like 85%? Then they are relying on a whole bunch of old guys to stay healthy.

Hell I'd bet money that Osman contributes more this year than a guy like Green does.

Fixed for context.

Let's not call a dandelion a rose here....

Lol, I think you're being a little extreme here. Yeah these aren't MVP caliber players anymore but players that can be really good as role players. Hope the Cavs can meet the celtics in the ecf.

Maybe just a bit.

Still...the Cavs are banking on a whole lot...and I mean a whole lot...going right.

No doubt. Every season just about everything has to go right for a team to win a title. It's going to be an exciting season either way. Lots of fun storylines, loaded teams, and several good rookies that want to showcase their talent. Few more weeks!!!!

What was the alternative?

You're clearly a better team, if things do go right, and the Nets pick isn't even factored in since it's a 2018-19 asset.

If they had simply kept Kyrie they'd be the same team and everyone would say they couldn't beat the Warriors.

So might as well do something even if it takes a little leap of faith. Cavs in the East can save these guys for the Playoffs. We all know that.

I never said there was an alternative.

The prevailing argument among Cavs fans seems to be this is the deepest team to ever hit an NBA floor...which has a chance to be true if the role players revert to their 2010 form.

Side note, Lebron is always in good shape but I thought he looked better at media day. He said his usual that this summer has been the best off season for him. I also liked that he talked about watching his kids and their teams and that it's given him more focus and drive (not exact wording).

I've not read that anywhere but they are much deeper then they have been, and that was their biggest weakness.

Good thing I know you or I might think you were prone to hyperbole...

He looked super thin in his shirtless photo with Wade. Almost as thin as he got after re-signing with the team in 2014. But that's what he does. He gets himself to string bean status until September and then starts bulking again. But if that's what does it for him, I have no complaints. He is 32 and plays like he's 28 (for now).

That's my point on "weaker".. it's all about IT and not knowing what you traded for exactly. Crowder is a nice player but Wade & Rose aren't close to playing 82 plus
Games with heavy minutes and are not only health risks but tail end of career. There's a reason why Rose didn't get any calls for weeks wanting him when he was a FA. Jeff Green nice bench role player but isn't winning you games. He started only 11/69 games for the magic and only averaged what 9 points, 3 boards an 1 assist on 39% shooting .. He's also 30 which isn't old but he is what he is.

I'm a Lebron fan but you can't honestly say this team is capable of beating the Warriors

You absolutely can if Thomas comes back healthy.
