This could be widespread for anyone who's athletic at all. I would like to see further testing done outside of football that's all.
They've found it in soccer players as well. Are they going to ban headers? They can't even test for CTE in a living person yet, so there are just too many unanswered questions imo as to exactly how and when it develops. Can one get CTE from 1 concussion that gets worse over their life even if never having any other head injury? Can a baseball player get it from taking a 95mph pitch to the head with a helmet or maybe the pitcher if he takes a rocket off his unprotected head at 110mph?

You do realize how much money some schools make from their high school programs?

Only private schools make money in high school football. Public schools rely on fundraisers and boosters to fund a team. Private schools recruit and give scholarships to the best players from public schools. Those schools then pimp out the player to the top colleges and receive money for allowing them recruit their property.

Even before CTE those drills should of been dropped. I saw more teammates get injured over the course of those drills than regular practice. The medical community should not have to tell coaches that a drill where two players run full speed at each other is a bad idea.

Never thought of that, but yea, should have been common sense, ha. And it has kind of a peer pressure built in to it. Everyone watching you, full speed head bashing.

Public and Private Schools are having issues with insurance companies and football. Everytime another lawsuit is launched it is making it harder for them to get insured.

Nole is right it is in soccer players, but it is at such a minimal amount of them as compared to football is why there is no uproar.

Especially from Pop Warner and up for years there was a lot of coaching that allowed kids to play injured.

I think in next 10-15 years you will see a lot of lawsuits against Pop Warner, High Schools, Middle Schools and more.

Same. Of course we didnt know the consequences at 6, but neither did I in high school. I graduated in 1993, and it was not heard about. Now I have a 5 year old son, and he will not play football. He can play hockey, baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, whatever, but will not play football.

Rugby is safer than football in terms of concussions because there are no helmets in rugby. It's human instinct to protect your head, and football's helmet gives a false sense of security and encourages stronger head contact, which ultimately makes it more dangerous.

In 20 years football will be played without full contact, only using the feet, and with a round ball. The game name will also change. It will be spelled s-o-c-c-e-r.

I can remember many people talking about how soccer would be the nations number one sport. Sadly to say decades later it hasn't happened and because the money in Europe is enticing the players to stay, The best "football / soccer" players are in other countries because the money is in other countries. Americans come out to watch the very best and the very best are not going to play in the States. That would be like Grand Prix as well. My point is that the money for players to drop out is to enticing and if your skill set is geared for football, the chances of dropping out because of the chances of injuries are not going to diminish the game to a point it disappears is extremely remote.
The league is finally realizing that hiding serious flaws in keeping their players safe isn't a good practice to keep. The league is changing and the players in the way they are able to maintain their health is vastly changing. The position of vital importance "QB" is being protected at a unprecedented point in the game that the quarterbacks are able to last longer keeping football healthy.
I can also remember over 20 years ago when football safety was scrutinized and parents were then having their children play soccer. As it turned out, the number of broken bones in the time period for those playing soccer per player was over twice as much. Soccer then made all their kids wear shin pads. That made the game safer and football will follow in those steps as well. Helmet development will increase the safety.

Hey norskarv, just noticed that Minnesota United has a name which mimics Manchester United, a logo which looks like Liverpool's, and the color scheme from Manchester City. Can't be a coincidence

And to respond to your comment, I'd like to point out there's a distinction between spectator sports and participation sports. Soccer is already the number one sport in America in terms of youth participation.
