Does this work similarly if you, as a seller, send offers to buyers who are watching your items?

Premium1981 speculates that the answer to this question is yes. In my experience I tend to think that is correct. I started sending offers virtually every day instead of once a month and I think that has helped.

I sent a bunch of offers on Saturday night. While sending reduced offers, TWICE I had an item sell within 5 minutes of sending the offer at the full price to someone else. I've had this exact thing happen too many times to count.

My Official Theory:

Ebay wants as much money as possible from the items on their site. When you send an offer, they put your item in front of as many people as possible trying to get it to sell at full price so they get the higher fees before it sells to the person(s) that you sent the offer to at a lower price.

Its only a theory, but I'm about as confident in this as I am anything I do. This would be a hard thing to notice if you don't do large volume.

What about the offer you get after you view items not watch them. I get them from time to time. I remember a few years ago in one of their updates alot of people were up in arms because ebay said they would start sending offers on a sellers behalf. It's usually like 5% off or have seen 8%. I think they are sending these and basically forfeiting their fees. It's not every item I see this on. Wonder what that trigger is

This is a pattern I’ve noticed too, so I would speculate that you are correct.

That's why I have always suggested n9t jump ing on offers and letting ones you decline just stay open and expire on their own

Well with this sale tonight for $1100 my monthly went from 56% off from last month to 22%. So strange how that one item can make your month.

Not really when you look at the type items you sell. If your average ebay sale is 5.00 a 500.00 sale can make a huge impact on th a t number

Not exactly related to the thread title but I'll ask it anyways - what's everyone using to see Best Offer prices? SellThePeak, 130point, and WatchCount aren't reporting correct prices anymore and Terapeak is missing tons of sales.

I generally don't worry with them. If I am comping I just use the highest price feature that sorts it fast and with most items it's easy to deduce what it is. Sellers need to read deeper into comps though than just what is shown. Sell though rating of that item is more important to me

I would agree, if I send out offers its either quickly accepted by the person I sent it to or seems to be bought at full price. Doesn't happen all the time but happens enough times for me.

I've always assumed that if it wasn't on Terapeak, it didn't get paid for. Am I wrong in this?

I can not compare my May sales to April because it's not even remotely an apples to apples comparison. However May 2023 to May 2022 is apples to apples. I'd say all things considered, this is the first month I've been disappointed since last September.

Dollars were up 10% year over year. This is very disappointing because my average daily listed inventory is +80% and I have been much more aggressive in lowering prices than I was last year. On a per day basis, the 21 days were my lowest average sales of the year so far. I ran cold on getting cards paid for, which hurt. If everything were paid for it would have boosted my sales for the month by ~10%.

Packages, however, were right in line with where I've been so far this year. I've been sending out between 3.3x and 4.3x packages compared with the same month last year. May was smack dab in the middle at 3.8x 2022. For the first five months combined of 2023 I've sent out exactly 3.8x packages vs the same stretch in 2022. Packages per day was exactly equal with February, but my $/package was 2/3 of February.

This was always going to be the toughest stretch of the year for me, and I'm almost through it. I've got a trip coming up that has ballooned from 4 days to 7, but when I get back from that I should be back to "normal" activity on my business until mid August.

June will be tough to top last year. For starters, I didn't leave for 7 days last year. The other, bigger factor is the Paredes Party happened last June. That is going to be very difficult to replicate.

Yes, that's what I always assumed as well. I tested that theory with some of the sales I had that were still pending to be paid and did not show up in terapeak. I never heard of any actual paid sales not showing up in terapeak before.

This was also my assumption.

However, items that were paid for and then cancelled by the seller also show up on Terapeak. I'm assuming this also means items that were paid for, then cancelled by the buyer or returned also appear on Terapeak.

June Sales:
vs Prior month $: +13.8%
vs. Prior month quantity: +17.7%
Impressions up 5% from last month

Not comparing to last year since I didn't do promoted listings and had half the amount of listings up.

I only really started listing hard in the last couple of months and I know my totals are nothing compared to some but I'm hoping to pull at least $15-$20 K by years end. Mostly stuff I've had sitting in boxes for a few years.

Don't compare yourself to others. There will always be someone bigger. Just do you. Looks to me like you are doing great. Keep it up.

Its amazing how much money we collectors keep stacked in boxes gathering dust.

I hired my wife to help with shipping, sorting, and scanning. I essentially do everything else. I pay her 10% of all my profits and it keeps her happy. Added bonus is she stays engaged in my side business and allows me to do my thing. Maybe you have a willing helper who could assist you.

May ended up being my 2nd highest sales month of 2023.

May 2023 was down significantly from May 2022, but I sold a really big card last May. Taking that sale out and the sales are almost identical.

Those are some great sales. When I was selling parts of my collection, I saw some great profits. Now it is other collections/finds, and don't see the higher dollar per card value since you get what you get. Definitely more on the quantity over quality aspect of some collections.

It is crazy how one card or player getting hot can significantly increase the amount sold.

My wife wants to but she works full time herself and I am too ocd about shipping and stuff it's hard for me to let go the responsibility
