The only relic card I need for my master set.

Whats everyone thinking on the RTOD sets? Anyone going big? What teams you thinking about going for? I hope they can hurry up and get some images uploaded. I don't care for this year's design but I'm still somewhat interested in maybe getting a few auto sets. I want to see what pictures they use for the cards first though. I hope they use a lot of game action photos as I'm not really interested in cards of guys running laps in shorts, or walking in from the parking lot holding a duffle bag. Also didn't like the awkward pose cards that were in a lot of the sets last year like the Kluber or Baez.

Baez was the best card in the Cubs set last year, imo. I’d much rather have these be stilted ST poses like that, along the lines of vintage cards and current Heritage, than Stadium Club Spring Training Edition.

Matter of personal taste, to be sure, but I couldn’t disagree more about that Baez card. That card and Javy’s 2015 (ROA) and 2017 Heritage cards are among my very favorite all-time cards of his.

I was actually personally really disappointed that there weren’t more photos like that in that Cubs set last year. Russell’s was admittedly a cool action pose, and Bryant was an okay ST contextual pose, but some of them like Schwarber and Rizzo and Contreras were terrible.

I was really surprised how carelessly this year’s promo card was packaged. Mine looked to have arrived okay, but after opening it, I wasn’t surprised to hear that some of them were arriving damaged. Sorry to hear that is happening to you and others. I know it’s a free gift, but given the goodwill they are trying to generate with condition-conscious card collectors, it’s not a strong effort in terms of shipping execution.

I haven't checked this thread for a while so I didn't know they were coming. I saw the red and was excited they sent out Ohtanis lol Forgot they did Trout last year... nice looking card.

It is a junk coupon card of which they printed thousands to sell spring training sets. They shipped it for what it is...high print paper garbage. You don't put that advert card in a protector.

Unless you are a baseball card company and the advertisement is a baseball card with what you know is a crazily collected player on the front, who you purposefully put on there b/c he's a crazily collected player, and you are sending such "garbage advertisement" to your customer base comprised of rabid, condition-conscious collectors, some of whom you know are already most unhappy with you for excessive shipping delays, poor packing of high dollar cards, etc. ad nauseum.

Other than that, you're exactly right.

Actually the Baez and Trout and Pujols poses are some of my favorite Topps Now cards. It is after all spring training having photos of them training (like the Padres one) are cool. Also have grown to love the Puig showing up in his awesome ride.
