If those cards were truly listed on Topps' website and made print to order, huge numbers would be purchased as people are gambling on these player's hype and early production to drive prices further up.

These P2020 and P70 cards are art cards. Not rookie cards. Not mainstream/flagship releases.

I don't think Griffey is suddenly going to have a hype-raising performance causing people to rush out and buy his Shore art cards at huge profits.

We will get Jacob Rochester Jo Adell soon it appears. RC logo visible.

"Passing the torch as spiritual successors."

Not numbers based but style maybe?

Griffey also never won a ring, so we can rule that out as the through-line.

This is more a failure of mlb's marketing, but when compared to Mays and Griffey, nobody knows who Mookie is. I don't mean that literally, but the other two were known nationally by the regular public. Not even Trout is that popular amongst the general population.

This is where I am too... during P2020, there were multiple artists who took me 2-3 cards to decide if I wanted to collect, and by the time I caught on, the first cards were so expensive that I had to shell out a lot more. This time I’m buying more first-round cards so that I haven’t missed the boat on the ones I will really want... I figure I should have a pretty good idea of the artist by the second or third sample, so I’ll sell the ones I don’t want. It’s more about preventing future losses than reaping a big-time payout (though the latter would certainly be nice!).

I was just meaning from the perspective of "If someone wanted it, they would have bought it from Topps!"

I mean, I know what a rookie card is and what an art card is

I'm not arguing these art cards are anything like rookie cards, I just think the simplistic take that people have about On Demand products is the wrong take.

I really like it. If I had to pick one today to buy, it would be the UNDEFEATED Mays.

I don't have to pick any to buy though and haven't decided yet on the card.

Just glue the 1959 card onto a block of wood.

If the photoshop on the Mays was done better I would definitely buy it. As it stands right now though, it's too glaring of an error for me to enjoy the card. I could also do without UNDEFEATED pasted all over the card too

That's not a bad call. I had not seen that 1959 until now. Wonder what a well-centered PSA 2 will cost me. Better border than 2014, but, I have a soft spot for Topps 2012-current except for 2020.

Interesting, it looks like he used that exact card's image. The 1959 card also doesn't have the fence aligned in each image in the exact same way.

At least with P2020 every player was either a HOF or at one point thought of as a potential future HOF.

Finally, my man Jacob Rochester! The Kyle Lewis that's peaking through the right corner of his monitor looks dope. The Adell has potential, but I'd much rather see him take more liberty with the design, like he did on his Ichiro and Ted Williams P2020 cards.

Lol, I wasnt aware that 1959 Mays "Mays Catch Makes Series History" card existed!

Topps source image in the '59 card is clearly touched up though (not just colorized). Whatever they would call "airbrushing" in 1959. Mays has a face painted over the blur in the third image, giants lettering is purely an illustration since its not super clear in the original photo, etc.

Undefeated used the same film source (as its probably the only once that exists from that angle), but did not source the Topps card and just desaturate it.

Ultimately its a weird de-make of existing card put on one of the ugliest Topps designs ever.

Was wondering who that was. Looks like a 1958.
