Well bought my first auto with this one, couldn't pass it up and I've been wanting a Kershaw auto for a long time. At least this one means something.

Guess I'm part of the club now

And most people wouldn't even consider purchasing a set of trash cards. Just comes down to whatever floats someone's boat.

Yeah, I'm not a great flipper too, so couldn't step in there to buy extras for flipping.
Besides, I don't sell until the cards are in my own hands, so by the time card arrives to me, all the people interested might have bought from the presellers already.

I bought my first card to flip. Will only keep either the /199 auto or /99 auto relic and then sell the other. Will likely wait until I have them both in hand and then decide what I want to do. Might even hold on to it until next year to see if Topps Now picks up steam even more.

Anybody here buying several in hopes for flipping?

The relic-auto seems like a tough line with $200.
You would have to be one of the earliest presellers to make profit, or wait long time (unless Dodgers win the WS).

I think the auto #/199 have a fairly good potential of being a good investment with relatively quick turnaround on the profit.
My thoughts exactly. I also pulled the trigger on both. Part of the reason being that I've been meaning to grab a Kershaw auto for a while now, but haven't seen anything in that price range that grabbed my attention in recent years. I'm thinking the auto can make me a few bucks (especially if it grades out well) and the relic auto will be PC.

Topps doesn't use the word "ironically" correctly on the back of the auto-relic. It's not ironic, it's interesting or coincidental.

Apparently the people at Topps are HUGE Alanis Morissette fans.

I see.
So you and mlbexpert is actually going to (or planning to) turn one of them into flipping item. That might be the smartest way.
I am keeping both as my PC, and was considering if I should buy extra of either one.

I think it also depends on the player, but when you look at Ortiz autos, many of his cards got terrible streaks.
So, I'm not sure if the grade will turn out so well (on the auto).
I think when Topps comes up to the player and say "Here, you gotta sign all of these autos within today, cause we gotta ship them to customers in next few days", some players tend to rush through them...
I mean, I would, if I got over 150 cards to sign right in front of me.
Whereas as for other products, maybe Topps give approach the players on some multiple occasions to sign rather than rushing them to do all at once.
I've been into the hobby for only half year, so this is just my speculation though...

I am guessing with these. Topps puts a bunch of them in a box and ships them off to Kershaw to sign then ship back to them. So there wont be a Topps quality control employee there to guide him. Guessing.

Yeah, keeping one and selling the other. I don't have any extras for cards I've bought. As I never planned to flip. Too much work, and I buy them because I love them. But with the prices continuing to go up, and two more rounds of playoffs ahead, I figured now was as good a time as any to try to buy some for investment (i.e. pay for more cards for the PC).

I would bet that Topps has a rep in both Chicago and in LA.

They might even use an MLB authentication person.

The good thing about this Kershaw auto is, that I think it will hold good value even if Dodgers lose the series,
1. Because it simply is Kershaw
and
2. Because this comes from his 1st ever MLB save (seems like he had one in Minor league)

I think the Part 2 is really the original "Topps Now" kind of thing, which I really like.

Those loops in Ortiz's signature tend to be a little streaky no matter what he's signing. Kershaw's signature is pretty straight forward and rarely do I see one that's not a "10".

Pretty sure there has to be a rep there. According to the back of the cards there will be on there.

Are these taking a while to sell out or is it just me?

It appears they doubled the print run with these autos being /199 instead of /99 as in the past. So, I'd guess they will take twice as long to sell out.

Were you hoping they would sell out in an hour and those that missed out would jump to eBay wanting to pay 2.5x the original price?

These relics and autos are popping up so fast that people don't have enough time to sell the other relics before the next round comes out. $100 a pop for an auto /199 and not seeing it for 4 weeks makes it tough to buy/flip. By the time you receive these cards... LCS Champion cards/relics and WS cards/relics will be offered. Making the flip of a LDS card tougher.

Good Luck Flippers.

Yup. Topps has perfected pricing in comparison with other relic/auto offerings.

Got 3 flippers trying to get lucky

Blue Jays (-140), Cubs (-190) are favored to win respective pennants (per Westgate). In last two seasons, all four LCS favorites have lost.
