Apparently the jays tried to sign Villar, but he rejected their 1-year, $6.5 million offer. I guess that indicates how they are trying to address the 2B/3B situation.

When does Orelvis Martinez come up? Although I assume he will play 3rd base. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sometime after Jordan Groshans comes up. Their infield prospect depth is probably a major consideration as they address the infield for this season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

With Canada’s regulations stipulating all ball players on visiting clubs must be vaccinated to play in country, will it give Toronto a sneaky extra home field advantage this year? For instance, on the Red Sox it probably means a number of starting players like Chris Sale, Xander Bogaerts, and Christian Arroyo wouldn’t be available. Supposedly 10 Red Sox players aren’t vaccinated on the team, and it’s unclear who else fits that definition.

This was very good news! Not a fan the first time and happy we won’t repeat this mistake.

Hoping we land Freeman! But can we somehow get rid of Grichuk?

I'm hoping it's him and not Freeman.
For sure Freeman's the far better player, but you don't want to be locked into 6 year contract with somebody on the bad side of 30. Need that money for Bo and Vlad extensions. |

Agreed. Also, they don’t need to add someone who’s going to take Vlad off the field for half (or more) of the games. Even if Vlad never quite reaches Freeman’s level of defense, he’ll be a better hitter if he’s manning first base. Players need that extra engagement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I'm thinking we'll see him as a swing 2-3 IP option to get him stretched out this year. Maybe some spot starts if someone in the rotation goes down.

We need a left bat but we have the best 1st base bat in the league. Need to move Gruchuk as well |

Is this the time to empty the farm for JoRam?
I think it’s smarter than a long term deal for a FA over 30..that would be a lynchpin LHB in the middle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love this kid, and I have so much of him!! At $12-$15 a base auto, I have more than my fair share.

Let's hope so. We don't need a 6 year, 180M contract on the books when Vlad and bichette are coming due. A couple year deal for schwarbs will be perfect and he has such great utility in the positions he can play if needs be.
Big ass bat to boot that seems to be clutch as well. Let's hope you are right. |

I'm fine with the Jays playing Jordan Groshans at 2nd this year.
He's cheap, young, and has played with Vlad, Bo, etc. before. Don't want Freeman and the contract he'll command on the bad side of 30 Most intriguing is Gabriel Moreno. With the current glut of catchers (Jansen, Kirk, McGuire) something has to happen. |

Jon Morosi is reporting that the Blue Jays are finalizing a trade for Matt Chapman.
Personally I was hoping they'd go bigger and get Jose Ramirez, but I'm certainly not gonna sulk over getting Chapman instead |

Blue Jays deal for Matt Chapman is done. Kevin Smith, Gunnar Hoglund, Zach Logue and Kirby Snead are headed to Athletics, per source.
World Series confirmed. |

How is this not the closest group ever. Man, it is awesome to be a Jays fan right now. |

As per Ken Rosenthal......
Blue Jays have spoken to Guardians about trade for José Ramírez, with idea of playing Ramírez at 2B, sources tell @TheAthletic. Other teams showing interest in Ramírez as well. Still unlikely Guardians will move him. Ramírez under club control for two more seasons, combined $24M. |
