thx for the feedback. I have been watching recently sold on ebay. and also on debating on re grading it and sending to psa. has anyone ever submitted something to psa that was a 9.5 and not get a psa 10 before? also do I have to crack it open or they will?

I think you can request for minimum grade as PSA 10 without taking the card out of the BGS slab?

Yes. I just did a crossover grade from BGS to PSA. If you send in a BGS card with qualifiers.... and the card does NOT meet your qualifiers... it will just get sent back. PSA is still charging you though.

To answer another question above.... YES. Some people have sent in quad 9.5s and NOT had the card cross over.

How rare is the court side silver? Rather than the copper?

I’m thinking about picking up one Luka card, either a silver of some sort or an optic base auto maybe. Anyone have any suggestions? Probably will be in a 9 or raw.

I really like the Optic Holo RC, but I probably wouldn’t buy one raw. They have gotten pretty expensive and they can have all kinds of condition issues.

Thanks. I’d probably do that in a 9. Part of me feels like Prizm is the way to go despite that it’s plentiful. It feels like the “flagship” for NBA rookies. I like the picture best on the Prizm, but know there are more of them than others.

Courtside silver is ~30.

I would look at a Select Concourse Silver. Beautiful card and not outrageously expensive.

Thanks. You think over the prizm? Is it rarer, or do you think Prizm 9s are just over valued right now? What about base Optic autos?

I think Optic Holo Autos will age extremely well.

On card auto and short print.

I generally would agree with this. All things considered equal I'd be all over optic holo autos typically, but a few things stand in the way for me on that one. First, it's outside what I want to spend. Luka isn't someone I PC, but I think he has greatness potential so would like to have one of his cards in my collection. Second, I don't trust the autos on all the holos I see. It may not matter in the long run for "value", but for me as a collector it's extremely important. That is why I focused on the non-holo version.

I would buy one of the silvers then. Either the Prizm, Optic, or Select. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. They probably rank in order of popularity just like i typed them if that helps. I think the Prizm will be the most iconic RC image just like LeBron's TC RC is his.

Thanks. I pulled the trigger on a psa 9

Im interested to hear what people's favourite Luka inserts are.

Say, your top 5-10 or so. Also interested in what are considered the shortest print run inserts out there for Luka.

My fav:

-2018/19 Kaboom
-2018/19 Galactic
-2018/19 Cornerstones
-2018/19 Aurora
-2019/20 Marvels
-2019/20 Stained Glass

Hey guys, I know that (Prizm/Optic) silvers always command higher prices than other non-numbered parallels, but any thoughts on the future of these Purples?

Currently less than 90 graded by PSA, while over 420 holos have been graded

Stick with silver or hobby parallels. Purples have probably the least demand.

Im only familiar with a few of these. But i would say the Galactic will be the most sought after and valuable in the future. That's a hard card to get now and very expensive. Plus it just looks great. I believe there are less than 20. Revolution and Galactics specifically have their own little cult like following among collectors already. I would love to own one. Some people even believe these will be the cards that are the closest to the coveted 90's PMG's and i would probably agree even though i own none sadly. They do remind me the most of a 90's product.

Are we allowed to shamelessly plug our auctions ending soon or would that be in poor taste or against forum rules?

I have a pretty high end one (in my opinion) ending tomorrow and wouldn't want anyone who may be interested in it to miss it!

There is a separate section for that. You shouldn’t do it in the hobby section.

The whole silver prizm or Holos really is confusing. Sometimes these cards are as valuable as a Luka card /50. Did this all stem from Lebrons first silver prizm?

I'm not really sure i wasn't into basketball at the very beginning of the "silver" boom. I used to be primarily a football collector. I think a lot of it stems from Ben Simmons not having auto's in Panini products his rookie year though.

In some ways i like it though because i'm not a huge autograph person myself and it's refreshing to see non auto'd cards be valuable. For a long time it was auto's or nothing. It's good to see things going back to more the card itself being collectible and not just autos. I dabbled in hockey cards for about a year after Connor McDavid's rookie season. And i was pleasantly surprised that non autos sell for a lot in the hockey world. Upper Deck Young Guns are kind of the same way. People go crazy for them every year.

Cards for the many, not for the few. They're basically the biggest hit in retail across all of basketball. People want what is actually attainable (or at least was attainable until the past few months). The collecting world at large simply isn't interested in a base card that comes from a box with an MSRP of $1000, even if it's beautiful and /39 (looking at you Opulence).

It’s a reality I’ve come to accept. Although I’m not in on the hunt. As far as silvers vs holos, I like holos at their price point far better than silvers and think they are more aesthetically pleasing, but that’s just me. They are both considered iconic whether I like them or not.

My favorite targets have actually become Hoops parallels of Luka, Tatum, and Zion in Mint or better condition because I think they are currently undervalued given the explosion of base Hoops rookies in high grades.

I think people are going to want to spice up their collections down the road and you don’t stumble across a Luka Teal, Silver, or Green Checkerboard in decent condition every day. I grabbed a PSA 9 Zion Hoops Red serial numbered out of 75 the other day and couldn’t have been happier to drop $375 on it. To each their own, but I see huge growth potential in the rare Hoops parallels at their current price point.

Think what a Giannis 2013 Hoops with a serial numbered parallel would fetch. Iconic + Scarce. No one has a crystal ball, but I think these cards could have big futures.

I think you're on to something there with Hoops. It has seen an uptick recently which i think stems from Giannis. It's a brand that's been around a long time. It has roots and heritage all the way back to David Robinson's rookie year. When i was a kid that is the card that everyone wanted at the time. It's a hard product to search for though because it brings up all basketball related products when your search for "hoops".
